This is taken at one of the local clubs around my area. The place is small but the players are very humble and friendly. Because I play penhold I like to finish the point as soon as I can. I would normally step around and loop long serves but the space was very limited and I was afraid I was gonna hit the guy next to me plus is very slippery and I have ZERO grip to the floor. When I do my forehand sometimes I move the shoulder up why to high .Currently I'm trying to fix that up. I need help with my pushes specially on the backhand side. I push high and spinless thus giving a nice opportunity to my oponnent to attack me. How can I keep it low and with lots of backspin?
thanks

Check at 0:18 in the vid. When you push from the top of the arc, the ball will bounce almost that high on the other side. Try pushing sooner on the way up. When you wait for the ball to start dropping, then you have to lift the ball high to clear the net. Some went high just because of the wrong bat angle.

Specifically the point on 2:05 and 2:08.. this is not on how to do RPB, just a random match. |

your forehand drive is wicked. you are lucky your opponent lacks the will or ability to attack those high pushes though.
as a low level player who spent the first few years ON LY pushing/pick hitting i agree about taking it earlier. it's riskier in terms of control, because you have to be more precise, but the reward is a low, quick push with heavier spin. so what about having more forward motion in the push (from the footwork/legs? or from the handspeed?) i ask because some of the better traditional penhold BH push/pickhit players that i've played (US1700-1900) seem to have good acceleration through the push and the spin is not weak. |

Very nice FH loop, although I’ve noticed that you returned passively a few over the table pop ups to your forehand – they are most easily smasheable with penhold, and PH smash is outright devastating; try it. I see that you like to serve long to opponents backhand to prepare 3-rd ball attack - it’s my favorite tactics too atm (risky against decent opponents though ) As to backhand pushes – same approach as with shakehand works for me decently well: as already mentioned, try taking the ball early on the rise.
