Hello there!  It's been a while, but i am back with some new video content! A short video has been made of a match in the Dutch 3rd division (the lowest national level). Top junior Thomas Wijnhout is one of the best 100 players (rank: 89) in the Netherlands. Just below that you will find Arnoud Hofman (rank: 105). I would like to know if you a hace an official referee for league matched and your competition system as well. I can't stand why amateur leagues DO have a paid referee.

A very basic setup: Stiga Prestige WRB (blade), Andro Impuls Speed (forehand) and Andro Revo Fire (backhand)

He gets this tip more often. On the other hand, the serve fits his game type. But, some more variation could be useful... especially at 11-10 in the deciding game.

In the Netherlands you have the Eredivisie (top league), 1st division, 2nd division and 3rd division. Below that you play at regional level. The video you see here is a video from the fourth level of the Netherlands. Regionally you play in a three-on-three system (10 points to be earned), at national level in a four-on-four system (13 points to be earned). In both systems y'all play three singles and two players play one double. In the Eredivisie (top league) it is a three-on-three system, but all players play two singles matches. A double is also played (so a total of 7 points can be earned there). There only are official referees at the two highest levels, something that costs the clubs quite a bit of money every season. At other levels the players count themselves. What does the system look like in your country?

We do have paid referees in every single competition from the first league to the last. The fee varies depending on the league you're playing but it's an outraging amount specially at basement level in you don't have ref around your place so you have add to the gas expenses as well to the ref.
The top first four leagues are carried out by our national federation and 5th/6th/7th run by the regional associations. The funny thing is our regular leagues is a waste of time since you have to travel several hundreds of kms (even in intermediate levels!!) in order to play diferent variations of swaythling cup from: -ABC vs XYZ best of 9 matches for lower leagues regional leagues. -Also ABC/XYZ two singles in lower national leagues w/o doubles in top national leagues. - Same ABC/XYZ with doubles just in case of tie after the sixth match in intermediate leagues. As a matter of fact many pongers drop out since it's turns out to be time consuming every single week, specially when it comes to compatibilize your family matters. That's the reason why so many former nat level players stick to any other lower leagues in order to avoid trips. |

Understandable. National table tennis players in the Netherlands often have the same complaint, although in our (small) country we can't really complain too much about it. Thanks for your interesting explanation, learned something again!
