No surprise at all.

Hope this loss puts HH in her place where she belongs, contrary to a lot of people in forums that claims she is a godsend.

Did you even watch the match  ? that was an extremely close match.
Hayata led 10:8 in the 2nd set and QTY somehow managed to pinch that
set and took a 2:0 lead. Hayata then managed to level the match at 2 sets all.
It could have been a different match if Hina won the 2nd set.

I thought that looked like Joerg Bitzigeo, but I'm not sure?

yes it is him...responsible for all those German League signings, not taking away from the players abilities.

After watching Kanak here...i would love to see him against a healthy Eugene for North America men's #1 but that's another thread.
Good to see he's doing well.  I also saw Wu Yue coaching for Yang Xiaoxin which surprised me a bit.  However, Wu Yue is playing 1st division Austrian League so I guess it's convenient.

just so everyone's up to date Wu Yue is now in the Polish League with KTS Tarnobrzeg - living and training in Hungary - their national Training center (go figure) (catching up in the forums)

**and yes, "he" had a lot to do with this...

Women's League:
- Wu Yue KTS Tarnobrzeg (POL) (1st Division + European Champions League)

Amy Wang TTG Bingen/Münster-Sarms. (1st Division)
Rachel Sung TTC 1945 Weinheim (2nd Division)

Crystal Wang TSV Schwabhausen (1st Division)
Swathi Giri SV DJK Kolbermoor (3rd Division)
Angie Tan TSG Kaiserslautern (4th Division)
Emily Tan TSG Kaiserslautern (4th Division)

Men's League:
Kanak Jha TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau (1st Division)
Kai Zhang TTC GW Bad Hamm (2nd Division)

By beating these two players, Liu Shiwen and Hina Hayata, Qian Tianyi has proven herself that she is a darn good player - just like Zhao Zihao on men's side.

Quan Tianyi used to be a peer (a slight superior) of Sun Yingsha at the mini-cadet level.  Sun got better faster but I wouldn't be surprised if they renewed their rivalry in a few years at the senior level.
I like putting heavy topspin on the ball...

Qian Tianyi is 2018 World Junior Champion. She was seeded 2nd  #1 hasn't been seen since :p The depth of China's youths is so deep and diverse ....is the very reason they're "seemingly" so dominant.

A bit disappointing from Hugo to lose 0-4, but i'm happy he at least made it to the semis.

ooopSS. LOL   some people did say; the ball is round

Several forumers predicted that HH would win.
Nobody predicted QTY would win.

QTY-HH   last games 11-7 and 11 - 3.. how that can be a close match?
..BOLL-FZD was a close match  QTY beat HH without doubt

If Timo has such high quality BHs he will be competitive with the best. I noticed a dramatically improved short game, is it the Dignics effect?

Ito is already the first one selected for tokyo olympics team according to media. She is clearly top 4 in the world. Only Chen Meng and Sun Yingsha has better chance against her.

Impressive win vs QTY.

Hugo looked like Kreanga playing Ma Lin, all the power in the world but can't do anything with them due to all the awkward balls he gets...

I did wonder if Timo's 4-0 demolition of Liam Pitchford was Tiom playing very well or Pitchford having a terrible day?

Would love to hear if Pitch felt he was playing badly himself or if he was actually in OK form and Boll had changed things up a bit and this led to the one-sided score line?

I guessed that TB might beat FZD today or at least give FZD a very hard time.

TB played very well in this tournament. But FZD is in very good shape too.

Easy win for FZD in the final and a tough fight for ZYL?

I hope ZYL can go all out for the final, not playing her regular passive-aggressive style. No chance for her to play defending  hoping for Ito to make mistakes. Let's see whether ZYL has better strategies this time.

Hello all!

I was curious about how ITTF makes the seeds for WT events? Like, I think in this Platinum Open event they seem to have put in a different procedure to select XD seeds. Why were LSW/WCQ seeded?

Also what I don't understand is why LSS is not seeded but Franziska is? In Oct rankings, LSS is ahead of Patrick

https://results.ittf.link/index.php?option=com_fabrik&view=list&listid=43&Itemid=208

But in Nov rankings, FP is ahead of LSS, but then why is WCQ not seeded in singles?

4.2. The men’s and women’s doubles rankings take into account the best 8 results of the pairs and individuals at ITTF World Tours, ITTF Challenge Series, Continental events and at ITTF World Table Tennis Championships.
4.3. The mixed doubles ranking takes into account the best 8 results of the pairs and individuals at ITTF World Tours, ITTF Challenge Series, Continental events, ITTF World Table Tennis Championships and at Olympic Games.
4.4. Points are assigned after playing at least one match in the event.

4.5. Points are valid:
4.5.1. For 12 months for the ITTF World Tour Platinum, ITTF World Tour, ITTF Challenge Plus Series and ITTF Challenge Series competitions.
4.5.2. Until the next edition of the ITTF World Table Tennis Championships, ITTF World Tour Grand Finals and continental championships.
4.5.3. Mixed doubles results at the Olympic Games are valid for 12 months.
4.6. Points are allocated both for the pairs and for the players individually according to the point table in 4.7.
4.6.1. For seeding purpose, the two calculations are compared (points of the pair; total individual points of player A and B) and the higher point will be considered.
4.6.2. In case none of the two players have registered points in doubles event, the singles World Ranking points are considered, but such pairs will never be seeded higher than those with doubles ranking points.
4.6.3. In case of equal points in the seeding positions, the previous month doubles WR points are considered as tie-breaker. If none of them has double points, then the singles World Ranking points are considered as tie-breaker.

4.7. Doubles point table Double points:
