Why so many Chinese players withdrew? (I know WCQ is banned for 3 months but what about the others? Injury? Do not need the points?)

It is possible LSW doesn't want to meet Mima Ito. Who lost to her is losing chances in olympics. But if they win, reward is very high. They don't need points or money. They need to win Mima Ito.

LSW appeared to be injured on the back in the match against QTY in the Austrian Open. She touched her back a couple of times during the match.

ML and FZD might be preparing for the world cup.

And they do not care about T2..

Ouch!  Wong Chun Ting twisted his ankle pretty bad against Xu Xin, but seems like he is taking a medical TO but hard to imagine him going forward.

Streaming live right now but not sure if there are country restrictions:

You'll see that when there's no live event.  But when the event is actually taking place, you'll see it (I'm also in the USA).  You can search Youtube for previous matches.

Edit: Personal search tag: 2000th point

Nothing personal. But I thought the two commentators are way below par.

Good matches though.

Ok I'll bite. XX was blowing everyone away. That backhand when it clicks is strong and multiple consecutive loops landing into a attack was fantastic. His form in this regard always fluctuates though and this makes it exciting.
Ito has been amazing taking CNT after CNT on in the last two opens. And she had the decision to win or loose this and unfortunately just chose wrong at the last moment.

Women's TT is exciting now more than the last 5-8 years. Now we have much more defined styles with Ito pips. Sys full swings man style and these added to the other usual ones makes for as much fun watching as the men which for me is a big step up from 2016 time

ITTF should seriously consider to use the format for real tournaments, or a similar version. It would make the match more exciting and dramatic.

Cannot believe Ito missing her own chance in the final short. It ends so dramatically. I hope if video reply to confirm out of bound or not. I cannot see it if it touch the edge or not. It is possibly clean out of bound. But this point seriously causes Ito 50000 dollars.

It would be a crime if Xu Xin missed the Olympics Singles :(

SYS actually got away with it, the last push from her was a high ball, Ito just clipped the net during her smash and was unlucky....

Not all of it. I find that "time limit" and 'fast x" are good, but no deuce is Dead. May be 24 mins with 7 or 9 pts games with deuce. After 24 mins,  the match enters a "Fast x" game.

Singles? It would be a crime if he lost the gold.
It will be his last chance at Olympics and I believe he and Ma Long will be selected to play singles.

Unfortunately, I 'm not sure that the Chinese will use the most objective way to pick the 2 players who will play the singles at the olympics, I mean: the world ranking like the JNT uses.
They will perhaps play a top 12 or something like this and then.....Also, don't forget that Xu Xin in doubles and mixed doubles = 2 gold medals in hands.....I fear he will play the doubles...only
