Hey guys!! Im an intermediate player.......... with my playstyle being offensive (more of smashes and loops on the forehand and blocks, chops and smashes on the backhand). Im currently using a butterfly premade paddle called Primorac Attack which has flextra rubber on both sides and is pretty heavy. This paddle is good on control but however does not have that extra speed or spin.
I feel I have outgrown this paddle and want to shift to a new one. Been doing a lotta thinking about what to buy but most of the people i play with suggest that i get a Jonyer H FL/Stiga off classic with Mark v on FH and Sriver on BH (or) Mark V on both sides.
The thing is that everyone here usually uses this same setup Jonyer/sriver/Mark v.
So, I want to use something different which is equally as good. And the other thing is that as i still have to improvise my game a lot, I dont want to buy equipment that would be advanced for my game as im scared i would have to compromise my game to adjust to the paddle. Since it would be my first Custom paddle, I want to get the so called "Perfect Fit". As u guys must ve also gone through this at one point of time or the other , I hope u guys understand my dilemma and give me your valuable suggestions and advice and help me choose the right setup. The Joyner/Mark V /Sriver setup would be good to learn and develop your game. If you want something different to other players I would look at a Yasaka Gatien Extra with Mark V 2.0mm both sides or maybe a Stiga Energy wood/Off classic with Stiga Mendo Energy 2.0mm both sides. If you wanted to stick with Butterfly then get yourself a Primorac or Korbel with sriver on both sides. What other brands are available in India? |

@Dafydd393 hey thanks a ton for the advice!!We get these brands in India...... bty, yasaka, stiga, tibhar, stag, joola, friendship, donic but the thing is that not all the products of these brands are available..... its mostly only the very popular ones like sriver, mark v, tenergy ,sonex, coppa etc....
And how's the Donic J.O Waldner rubber? Would it be advisable for me?
And another thing is that I find Jonyer H too light for my liking!!

That's a good classic rubber, similar to Sriver or Mark V. Also comparable is Donic Coppa, which is a bit softer than the JO Waldner rubber. |

Hey Guys,
Im currently using a premade donic waldner700 bat, i normally play at the gym but the games are pretty seriou and intense, ranging from short allround and attack and sometime stretching to long range counter loops that go on for hours. My 1st racket was a premade, chinese one called SHANGHAI,its a cheap and beautiful racket which combines excellent speed and control, much better that the donic waldner700 im using now. But as im improving on technique quite consistently n im now planning to buy the YASAKA MARK V rubbers. My problem is that i cant spend on an expensive OFF blade, so i ripped of the rubbers from my SHANGHAI racket but there were pieces of sponge that dint come off well and also the glue is still stuck all over the place. So to even things out i got the balde polished by a carpenter using sandpaper,a very well done job still maintaining thye same thickness of my racket and removed just the glue and sponge,i am still very surprised. MY QUESTION: shud i glue the YASAKA MARK V rubbers onto this balde or will i be ruining the rubbers. Is there any alternative, like a very cheap OFF or OFF+ blade in the market which could substitute. Thanks. |

You can't go wrong with a BTY Primorac, Yasaka Gatien Extra, Donic Epox Allround+, Sriver, Mark V, Yasaka Extend, Gambler Outlaw. ZeroPong or Cole's can set you up with a great Chinese setup for less bucks.

Help Needed!!
Hey I ve been thinkinking about getting a Yasaka Gatien extra /Mark v (FH)/ J.o Waldner(BH).
Would this be a good combo?? Or would Yasaka Gatien extra /Mark v (FH)/Sriver be better?!
@frogger : Is Yasaka Gatien extra suitable for offensive game?
Choosing the ply is where my major confusion now is !!!
And How is Yasaka Gatien extra 3D ??
Can someone please compare Yasaka Gatien extra 3D ,Yasaka Gatien extra and Stiga clipper (OFF+) ? Edited by 2wingloop - 11/01/2010 at 5:37am |

Gatien extra with Mark V and either Sriver of JO Waldner seems a good choice. Extra 3D is more flexible - I'd stick with the normal one. Clipper is faster and heavier. Also good for looping, but I think that will be easier with the extra. If you have good technique clipper is a good choice. If you are still developing I suggest the extra.

Gatien Extra 3D is a bit faster and more flex than the regular Gatien Extra. Yasaka Extend or Yasaka Extend HS in 2.0mm would be a great choice for fh (fast with great control). Sriver 1.9mm for bh is a great choice for allround blocking, flicks, looping and quick counters. Gatien Extra 3D is more of a pure loopers blade at mid and away from table. Clipper is stiff and best for pure power players not as suitable for allround play like Gatien Extra.

Hey guys finally got a new paddle!!
Stiga Offensive classic / Donic Coppa JO Gold(FH) / Mark v(BH).
Played with it just a while back................. Finding it a lil hard to control..... (I think this is bound to happen with new paddle). But Coppa JO Gold is awesome for looping !! Also blocks and pushes are great with it....! The only problem comes while hitting!! Most of my power hits are falling off the table.
Actually I was thinking that my pushes would pop off from Coppa JO Gold and lead to an easy kill for the opponent but it turned out to be the other way!!
In fact my fh pushes are coming on good while my backhand pushes with Mark v are resulting in high pops!!
Could anyone please explain this?
And also could anyone who's played with Coppa JO Gold gimme a bit of advice on how to use it effectively ??
Looking forward to ur replies eagerly!!
