Here is my attempt to figure out the area of the most common blade size of 15.7x15.0cm. These blades include BTY TBS, Amultart, Schlager Carbon, Timo Boll, ZJK, MJ ALC/ZLC/ZLF/T5000/W7, Viscaria etc....and quite a few other popular brands as well.
Since 15.7x15.0 is not a perfect circle I am taking the average of these 2 numbers of 15.35cm diameter, 1/2 that for radius of 7.675cm. Since
Area= π r
we have Area = (3.14159) x (7.675 x 7.675)
Area is 185 square cm. Now multiply this number by your rubber's Gram/Sq cm and figure it's weight.

A PIECE OF WISDOM.
How do I know effective Playing Area of my racket blade wirh a high accuracy up to 0.1 square cm.

My best preffered method to find the playing area is as follows.   Materials needed
   -- A pair of scissors
-- Sheet of a smooth cardboar A4 size   (my usual choice those pictorial cellulose dustcover to wrap Vynil diskus)
-- Digital scales reading to 0.01 gramme

1. Cary over the blade's outer shape onto the cardboard sheet and cut the figure out. Weigh up the Figure (FW).

2. Cut off a square sample 10 x 10cm from the figure and weigh up the Sample (SW)

3. The Playing Area (Figure Area) = WF *100 / SW   cm2

Be Happy.

PS// Through applying this procedure on many different rackets, I did found out that effective playing surface on most regular blades proved to be in the range of 200 -- 203 cm2.

Digital Scales is the very praised havings, indeed

A time ago, I had got to calculate effective playing area on those fancy shapes, in exact numbers to 0.1 decimal.

Thankfully, I was able to make the very best use of my digital balance, to my very best satisfaction. Educated mind is a great attainment, indeed.

    Hi, Simas
Just to proven the power of arithmetics.   I can instantly tell you the very exact cut weight on this rubber without making any physical reduction of the rubber sheet. It is kinda like a magical prophecy, indeed.
Let's go .....

53 / 16.6 x 16.6 = 0.192 g/cm2   Specific Weight of the Rubber
0.192 x 200 = 38 grammes           Cut weight estimated

So, you can now safely expect your present rubber sheet of AK47 to go reduced to 38 grammes after trimming.
Please let me know if my prediction meets the factual weight after trimming on the rubber.

Nice. But can't do that. The rubber is glued for some time now on my spare setup. When I peel it, if I won't forget, I will :)

There is nothing wrong about the rubber.
AK47 RED , high density sponge, 56 gramme uncut sheet (as owned by Piligrim )
AK47 BLUE, low density sponge, 53 gramme uncut (as owned by Simas).

47 BLUE ultra light sponge, it feels much like squirell feather, indeed.

If all blades were the same shape and size, we could easily use the same formula... but unfortunately blade shapes and sizes vary significantly.

The formula is the same, just have to figure out the blade area plug in the G/(cm)(cm) values of your rubber. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure that out.Sleepy

Hi, Sedis

It's great to obtain the Sponge Hardness actual numbers from tester's hand directly.. . So kind of you, indeed.
Yes, we need all the tribology data of each rubber present on LARC list.
Your given measurements of sponge hardness is of real value.   Yes, we'll gladly incorporate your every information into our Big Rubber Hardness Chart and the Big Sheet Of Rubber Mass as well.

THANKS YOU again, a lot.

No problem - I purchased a durometer after borrowing one and finding it really useful, I will include my results with any future weight submissions.
