My buddy traded me a couple sheets of this strange rubber and I dig it because it offers a unique contrast to my primary side, but . . .
I'm not happy with the way it glued onto my blade. Both of my attempts were failures. There are a dozen or so airbubbles trapped between the rubber and blade. I used the same technique of gluing, rolling, pressing, etc. that I always use with sponge rubbers, but I could not get the air pockets out. Any suggestions? Anyone else have these problems with spongeless OX rubbers? Can it be glued onto a thin sponge without losing it's "myserious" properties?

I have glued Dr Evil to a sponge (with speed glue no less) and it was quite easy to do, it didn't curl up at all as I expected. It wasn't for me though but a friend gets some quite interesting effects from it, particularly if you push to him.
If you are worried about air bubbles when gluing direct to your blade, attach the area where the logo is as you would like it keeping the rest of the rubber away from the blade. Lay the rest of the rubber over a large rolling pin (or aerosol can) and roll it on taking care to apply a little downwards force and not pushing along the length of the rubber which may stretch it. Dr Evil is quite strong though and doesn't stretch easily.

I was initially tempted to attach Doc to a thin firm sponge, but many sources said "NO." Yikes, I think the way I've been rolling my rubbers onto the blade is causing them to stretch. So much to learn even after all these years. Oh, when will I stop making mistakes?

You definitely can do it. I've done 3 (OX+sponge)so far.....but yeah it's not easy.
Gluing OX.
In this video, the middle of the rubber is unglued. It's illegal.
I don't use Dr.E...see my sign below.
Gluing all OXs can be done by the same technique.

if it doesnt have any sponge.. wait about 3 minutes and touch the glued area of the blade if its still wet, if its sticky already then place the rubber. you can also use a double sided glue sheet.. i think dhs has it.. it is used for gluing ox rubbers

Oh, that's what they use those glue sheets for! I've seen them, seen players and stores in China with them, but couldn't figure out what the deal was with them. Keep in mind my Chinese is Bu Hao (no good)! Any idea where I could get a sheet online?
