    Posted: 05/20/2008 at 10:42am

For the Ontario Cup being played this coming Sunday ( May 25th) does anyone know what the format is?   Will there be a large round robin of all the teams, or will they have groups of teams playing each other, followed by a playoff between the winners of the groups?  Should be really interesting, with a strong team from Ottawa taking part- looking forward to it.

Hi,

This is what I know there are 8 teams and would be 4 in each group, Two teams qualify to play semifinals and their winners play Finals. The teams which loose in the group would play in another group for 5, 6, 7 and 8th positions.

Or there could be if you are 3rd in first group you play with 3rd team in the other group for 5th and 6th position and the team which came 4th would play the other group's 4th ranked team for 7th and 8th position.

Another thing this would be as per Olympic format i.e. one player plays two matches, then two players play one match and there would be doubles. Total of 5 matches to determine the win or loss.
