I like lighter setups too but there is such a thing as too light.   I like 160-170gm for a double inverted paddle but many of my blades have LP 0X or SP mounted on them and that makes them much lighter, especially the LP 0X.  Over 180 gm is too heavy.   I have 3 hard bats and they are in the 110-130gm range.  Blocking fast loops at the table is a challenge and one can really feel the impact.

Quote I don't believe that you need heavier blade for more power since I realized that traditional penholders use very light setups (with one rubber only) and certainly you cannot say that they lack power. Some adaptation period needed for drastic change of weight of your racket is another thing.

You are right.  The power comes from the person, not the paddle.

About the low weights - some of these votes were in the transition period between speed glue and tensors.  I think if the vote were redone from scratch today, the numbers would likely shift upwards significantly, especially if shakehand was separated from penhold.
I like putting heavy topspin on the ball...

For me, heavier blades tend to feel a bit more stable (feel that I make less mistakes and have more control with heavier blades) and it seems that it's easier to absorb energy, as well as generating power. However, the downside is that my strokes seem a bit slower (in terms of hand speed) compared as compared to light blades.

while I agree on the fact the person creates the power not the blade, a person always swinging at the same speed will have more power with a heavier blade.

all players will swing at the same speed whether they hold in hand a 150g or a 200g setup. the swing will not be slowed down by the weight of the setup, especially on the fh; if we acknowledge that, a heavier blade will give more powerful shots.

I presume we are discussing heavier or lighter exemplars from the same brand and model, right. For example my Mazunov(105gr) is slower than my Hallmark Carbon Extreme(68gr)so what weight has to do with it

I'm not so sure about all players swinging at the same speed..

There was a time when I played a 140-150g paddle and was looping fine and when I borrowed a paddle around 180g, I started either missing loops, or they started hitting the top edge sending them flying upward. But then again that was just me

But acceleration should be higher with lighter racket, i.e. you achieve your top speed faster - this is important with a real game scenario, when you often don't have a time for full swing and with a heavy racket you may end up playing majority of your shots with sub-optimal swing speed (actually I can imagine that even in something like killing a lob scenario you may not want to swing really hard with heavy blade cos of potential problems with halting your movement (and recovery) and hitting a table with your racket)
