i'd say now that bty has hard sponged bryce, it is comparable to hurricane because both fit the hitlooper style. i have the butterfly zhang yining, which is a slower blade, but has good control. i think instead of hurricane, a not so durable rubber...should i maybe use bryce hardsponge or powersponge instead?

Won't really fit, the throw is different the feel is different hell everything is pretty much different. One thing is clear though, unless you intend to speedglue both don't use them.

The powersponge is good for those who only speedglue a few times before playing, but anyone who uses Bryce as its meant to be used knows that the potential effect is much higher.

hurricane is an incredibly durable rubber... unless you purposely trying to kill it i would choose hurricane over bryce any day!

Ikaros, have you ever played with it with speedglue poured into it?

Am using Hurricane now. Been using for 3-4 weeks. Speed glue not much I mean everytime I would use only one layer to glue. So all in all it would have been 3 to 4 layers, maybe 5 over these weeks. Guess what. The rubber's gone softer which means to say that it's bouncier now. Coupled with that, it's gone less tackier over the weeeks of playing and cleaning it. I get less control and the loss in tackiness giving me less spin. It's really screwing up my game big time.

Thats odd, even my 999 topsheet lasts at least 2 months; and thats a notoriously non-durable topsheet.

Here's a review of a dutch tabletennis forum (vrocosport.nl/forum)
It was tested by Siebje (also a myTT member) and I translated it for you:

Tested: Butterfly Bryce PS,

Colour: Red

Thickness: 2.1(max)

By: Siebe Hiemstra(Siebje)

On: M. Maze off blade, first used with Threeball spin&speed, then with BTY Millenium chack. SO I did use speedglue.

My play...
Takes over the game directly from the start (service) forehand AND backhand I mostly use topspin balls. I try to place the balls well and make my points with that, I also play a lot from the second line. Above the table, I put the balls short and tricky or I flip.

Speed
Normally I play with a Bryce 2.1mm (glued) And this Bryce PS, has the same speed (as 1 or 2 layer(s) of glue) And this will stay that way, hence you keep it in that Bag when you're not playing! it keeps its effect.
However the bounce of the rubber is a bit high which makes it less controlable.

Controle
Like I said the bounce of the ball is a bit high. This is also normal with the normal Bryce (glued) but a bit less I think. I thought the control was reasonable anyway. if I have to give it a mark I think I would give it an 7.5! It is however a rubber for the more advanced players. Not for beginners, absolutely not. those will have a lot of trouble in controlling this rubber, especially in the longer rallies.
The players that want more controle with this rubber need to get theirselves a thinner version.

Spin/ Effect
The rubber has a lot of effect/spin. With service as with topspin. I think it's even more than with my normal glued Bryce! Heavy pushed contain a lot of effect as well, but because the controle is low and the bounce of the ball on the rubber is high you need to be very careful. Make a short fast movement or the balls will go over the table!
Spin over spin works very well with this rubber. Killing the effect/spin of the opponent is easy, so counter-spinning hard is very good with this rubber

Pros:
- Topspin with a lot of rotation
- Service.
- Counter-spin
- Blocks go fine (active blocks go fine as well

Cons:
-
Controle
-
Tricky in the rallies
- Heavy push (normal push is okay)
- Flip on a lot of backspin.

Rubber in marks:
speed:+/-     98
Effect:+/-      103
Controle:+/-  75
