there seems to be more discussion on the topic of bryce on shakehand blades than bryce on hinoki jpen. I don't speed glue, now don't see the need after banning of speed glue in 2008.

but I am interested in either getting either the bryce 1.9mm, or bryce HARD 2.1mm to try on my Darker speed90. Which is better for me? or should I just stick with sriver (also unglued)?

now for the question: is the Hard sponge FRACTIONALLY better for close to table shots, like, push and flipping compared to the normal bryce?

(since I hear Bryce is worse in this department than sriver) I like DHS H2's hard 42 degree stuff for the close to table stuff, and yes, all my friends are chinese and so I get to practice these shots a lot!!! I try to loop drive anything FH,except backspin....and play off by BH a lot with push, chops, flips and blocks.

thanks a lot.

erm, i'm a j-penholder like u. i use bryce with kim taek soo. it works quite well. never try before 1.9mm. i'm using 2.1mm. cause it should have more power than 1.9mm. and my game is to 1 shot kill the opponent. but 2.1mm should be better. 1.9mm should have better control

I've been wondering about Bryce on hinoki as well. That recipe just might turn out to be delicious giving the soft nature of hinoki. I've tried both 1.9 and 2.1 before. 1.9 doesn't seem to have enough oomph to do the job. 2.1 is still controllable, but you get the power you need.

Hello leeyong...I am a shakehands player but I play with a Darker Tanpan single ply hinoki blade.  Before I got the Tanpan,  I played with a Butterfly Schlager carbon blade.  I tried regular Bryce on the carbon blade but it was too fast.  I preferred the softer Bryce FX on the carbon blade.

When I got the Tanpan, I tried the Bryce FX and it was OK but I also tried regular Bryce and I think that it performed better.  The hinoki has a much softer feel than the carbon and maybe the softer FX sponge was too soft.  I also tried Bryce Hard on my backhand and it worked well with the hinoki also.  I think that Bryce was better for looping and Bryce Hard was better for blocking and smashing.  To me, the Bryce Hard seemed a little faster than the regular Bryce.

Ello guys, I'm just like you Jpn holder, previously i'm using the Bryce on my TSP Yamato-K, it quite good for my backhand smach but is come more problem when i'm attacking in forehand. I'm love smaching this rubber but i don't like the spin it can produce. Its can say the sriver are good in spin than bryce but the byrce is good for fast game.
