I just grabbed my dad's old c-pen blade, but it's a little slippery. Since I'm trying to learn the RPB, more friction would be nice.

Is there some sort of sealant I can apply to the blade surface for some added friction?

Thanks,
PMR.

DO YOU have rubber there or is it just paper?

Some friction for the rubber to grab onto?  You could scuff the surface lightly with a fine grit sandpaper if the blade surface is bare.  But what does RPB have to do with the SURFACE?  other than to allow the rubber to grip better to blade and glue?

Unless you have only a piece of colored paper glued there.  Otherwise you will have to glue some rubber on there after you remove the colored piece of paper.  If you don't know what to get yet, just buy some used rubbers or some inexpensive 729 Friendship rubbers.

You can seal it with a Varnish or other similar sealant.

TRY reading these threads from a SEARCH on varnish:

My fingers need a tighter grip on the handle, to make my RPB stronger, because right now the wood is kinda slippery so the racket shifts a little bit when I swing hard.

Does varnish/polyurethane increase the grip, or make it even more slippery?
