Butterfly Roundell

 I know that they are totally different rubbers from tenergies, but please help me by telling me the good and the bad  things about roundells.

I am so in getting again roundells to try them but this time in 1,9mm that I am used from tenergies. Should I do it? Will I be pleased? Please I need help from players that have spent time playing with roundells.

What I ask from you guys is to explain the rubber's characteristics.

ex. The arc, the spin they create, if they are suitable for blocking etc.

 

Yeah, it's not one of the more popular ones  But I did use Roundell in the past, all three versions - hard, regular, and soft.  It is not a "speed glue effect" rubber.  It is one of Butterfly's High Tension rubber and I will rank the speed of those that I've tried.

 

Bryce Speed > Bryce > Sriver G3 > Catapult ~ Roundell.  I ranked the speed of Catapult approximate to Roundell but it changes with the blade.  For hinoki outer ply, Catapult is faster.  For limba outer ply, Roundell is faster.

 

Roundell has a soft topsheet.  I mean it is really soft.  Do you have gummy bears in Greece? That's what it feels like.  But for some reason, it is very durable.  The only time I damaged a sheet was from hitting the table accidentally.  It lasts a very long time.

 

I would skip trying the hard version (40 deg).  If you're going to buy that, might as well stick to Tenergy.  The soft version (32 deg), I would use if you like Pryde 30, Acuda S3, or Nimbus Sound but want something that lasts longer.  The regular version (35 deg) is the one I used the longest.  If you want to loop mostly, I would stick to Tenergy.  If you like to mix it up - loop, block some, counterhit some, better control for return of serves, better serves, mainly control that Tenergy is not providing, then I would try the regular version.  Roundell is not slow.  You can penetrate your opponent's defense with it.  But it is not an all out attacking rubber but if that is what you want to do, try the hard version.
