So a friend and I have been teaching ourselves table tennis for the past 6 months. It's going well but we wanted to upgrade to better bats that suit our developing styles. I myself have a bit more experience having played in a few local tournaments and having weekly coaching at my local club. My friend is (very strangely) a defensive penholder. I figured the best blade would be a japanese penhold blade, with long pimples for the forehand and a fast inverted rubber for the RPB. I play Shakehand myself, and often find myself very frequently switching between heavy chops and topspin drives. Although an all-around blade is probably better, the bat ive been playing with so far is quite light so I thought I'd go for a lighter more defensive blade with a long pimples backhand and a tacky rubber forehand, with the option of twiddling (something I'm doing anyway just to get used to it). Bit of a long post sorry, but what I'd like to ask is if anybody could kindly recommend blades and rubbers for these two different requests. I know what kind of style I'd like to play but I've honestly no idea what brands and specific rubbers would work. I'm not rich either so none of those £200 blades lol. Thanks very much in advance lads.
