There are many variations depending on who your coach is. A lot of the RPB players favour the extremes, either extremely open for more angles or fingers closed together for a more powerful backhand. Either way your fingers on the backside are still slightly curled and stacked together.

My cpen rpb friendrecommends curling yr fingers round a tt ball to get the idea. also remember yr thumb should be dominant on the face of the racket NOT yr index finger

Depending on what types of stroke you are executing, you adjust the amount of force or emphasis on your thumb and index finger to control the angle of the blade face. In general, for FH strokes you use your thumb and for the traditional penhold BH you use your index finger more. However for RBP is a balance between the thumb and index finger to fully control your blade face coupled with whether you are doing the RPB looping, hitting or blocking.

When RPB-ing I fully curl and retract the remaining three fingers to maximize the hitting area. Occasionally I fully extend them when I do FH smashes.
