Hi everyone, I hope that you are staying safe and healthy despite the difficult circumstances worldwide! This is of course not an exact science, but what would in your opinion be the approximate USATT ratings of these four players? Match 1 (just one part, a 5-minute clip): Match 2 (full game): Edited by Philior Phimellus - 06/08/2020 at 7:52am |

It's always very difficult to guess ratings. The first two guys I'd put them at around 2000. The second two maybe 2150. I could be way off though. I recently watched a video of my finals match in the U1850's that I won. Watching the match I would have guessed we were both 1200 players. We had to beat much better players to get to the finals, but didn't like each others styles, so we looked really bad.

Thank you for the response, @mts388!
I have on rare occasions been competitive against the first two guys, so would estimate my own rating to be around 1800. I agree that the participants in the second match are significantly better - they are young players who are actually training to become professionals.
You are right - it's very often the case that certain stylistic match-ups may make people appear worse or better than they actually are. There is probably a tendency to rate long and short pips players lower than the ones who use inverted rubbers. |
