Hey everyone,

I'm very interested to know how much should I weigh in order for my body to be at its best shape?! I've been doing special excersises after practice sessions taken from a Korean coach, and I have no problem at the table for quick shots to move for, but I think I'm a little below my ideal weight. my heght's 180, im 24 years old and I weigh 70 kgs. could anyone help me plz ? and if I need to gain a few more kilos, could anyone tell me how to do it in a healthy way without falling out of shape plz????

Well, a person's "ideal" weight depends entirely on the person. Don't go for a certain weight, go for ideal physique and health instead. If you are great physiologically then it doesn't matter what you weigh...because you are where you want to be.

maintain a well balance diet, put a little extra on carbo (potato) and protien (white meat), train as much as you can especailly on polymetrics excercise but the most important factor rest adequately....

Somewhere around 70kg is ideal for you, any higher and you'll lose speed and any lower would mean a loss of power.

to find whether you are at ideal weight or not, use this formula to calculate your Body Mass Index (BMI):

if you are 180cm and weigh 70kg, your BMI will be:

70 / 1,80*180 = 21,6

ideal BMI for a person is to be between 20-25, so no problem for you.

if ur protein+carb+fat intake is higher than your output (exercise, metabolism, etc.) then u'll gain weight. If u got high metabolism, which is something u cannot physically control, then eat alot!

I'm 6'5( ehh 196.5cm?not sure) and 192(87kg) pounds, 2000+ modern chopper... picked up my first bat when I was 12... when I was a QB in high school all my friends would always laugh when I told them  I'm serious about TT...

P.S : It's not easy to tell wether or not your weight is where it should be...  everyone has a different bone structure even if youre same height

I don't know there is any  standard weight related to table tennis.  I played more than 20 years.  I found that table tennis is very hard on knee and heel.  If the player is too heavy, it is not good for the leg.  We can tell a lot of players including Schlager, Kong Ling Hui.  They put wrap on their knee and/heel.  Too heavy is not only moving slow, but also hurt the legs.

It's genetic and what is ideal for you(mentally/physically).  "Ideal" means nothing if you have no technique, bad technique...  you "know" which feels better now; just be healthy and safe.
