My friend want to buy Joola R1, could any of you give some reviews of it? Is it really that thick and feel uncomfortable? Tx

I also have a question about this blade.
They say its thick, to be precise how thick is it in mm? If you have a big hand maybe thickness isnt a problem. |

I really confused about the thickness too, in joola official website they dont mention it at all. but some says it is 1,35cm thick, and in some sites they say it around 1,00cm.
to sunflex: What's the different beetwen fast and power? I think they both the same feeling in table tennis. Do you ever tried hinoki blades? What's the different beetwen both of them? I'm also interest in balsa blades, and want to try either Joola R*1 or Joola Kool. Tx |

Hello stafanusj...I was also interested in the Kool and the R*1. I held both of them at the US Open in Charlotte. Both of them are very thick. The R*1 is thicker but I liked the feel of the Kool better. It had the RAG system where the blade is integrated into the handle. Paddle Palace lists the Kool at 9.7mm and the R*1 at 13.3mm. Still the thickest blade that I saw was the High Technology blade by Dr. Neubauer. superloop |

Wow 13.3mm, that's really thick plus 2 max rubbers hehehe. balsa is very soft, you need a side tape to protect it, question is if there is a 13 mm side tape if not avalable you'll end up with a duct tape! |

Maybe using 2 butterfly 6mm side tapes and stick it side by side. I don't think there is a 12mm side tape available.
so it's good and fast for looping, that's quite interesting. I want to try balsa blade... hi superloop, I think you and I are always interest on similar blade. What makes you prefer kool than R1? Is it the control? Do you use similar rubber on both blades? In my country kool is cheaper than R1, but I don't like green color blade... |

Hello stefanusj...I didn't get a chance to play with the Kool. I just got to hold both the Kool and the R*1 when I went to the US Open. I liked the weight and balance of the Kool better than the R*1. The R*1 seemed too light to me even though it was thicker than the Kool. The Kool has a very comfortable integrated grip that is hard to explain unless you see it. Joola calls this grip RAG. I'm not sure what this means. I was very close to buying a Kool blade but they didn't want to give any discounts and they were charging full retail price. I might see if I can order one from iruiru or somewhere else and get a better price. superloop |
