Boll? he was out very soon, and I think if he'd gone thru' his group, he'd be defeated by Chinese stars, all Wang Hao, Ma Lin and Wang Liqin in good form. simply they are ruling pingpong world

I don't know about Wang playing until he is 40. We are talking about the Chinese Table Tennis team here, where world champions are expected to retire by 30. Wang is definitely in superb physical shape, but there are simply too many up and coming guys. Window of opportunity closing for Ma and Wang.

Maybe WLQ looses interest in whatever is not world championship or Olympics. Because he has the exact skills needed to beat Ma Lin. That said, when Ma Lin is "in the zone", nobody can stop him. Wang Hao lost because he couldn't change tactic at the end, which is exactly what Ma Lin did in serving short on Wang Hao FH. Ma Lin is undoubtly the best player at the mmnt but what a brat ! His behaviour at the table is getting worse and worse. He doesn't even bother to notice when he has a lucky ball !

Yes i noticed this too, wangs backhand is significantly more powerfull, it was already great but now its even better... i think ma barely used his RPB that game, in fact i only recall him using it twice and no wang didnt return them, but ma only uses his rpb for opening attacks, he never really uses it in rallies

Firstly Can someone put Samsonov vs Wang Liqin match and is there any match of Joo available can someone put it up tat if possible?

Secondly regrading all you pplz comments that Wang lost on purpose although for some reason i want to believe this but the fact of matter is that in Table Tennis one can easily have a bad day when he is not sighting the ball to well and as pointed out by Wang a weak recieve can seal 4-0 thrashing at this level. And besides Wang Liqin style of play in my opinion though comprehensive but risky and when it pays off its specacular but when it does not it looks quite ordinary Yes i am taking about his counter LOOPING.

Schlager needs more than a haircut, he needs confidence. I felt bad for Liqin but come on, did you see how well Ma Lin played?  Dou you know if an official DVD of this world cup will be available?

The French Table Tennis Federation will produce a double DVD (8 hours) and will sell it in France. You may be able to order it on the internet when it will come out.

Regarding Wang Liqin performance, I really think there was no arrangement between players. I was there and you could see Wang Liqin was not missing shots on purpose. Ma Lin used topspin serves very well and Wang Liqin didn't find effective returns (when he was actually able to read the spin!). Ma Lin prevent Wang Liqin from playing forehands, and Wang Liqin missed backhands he normally doesn't.
It wasn't much interesting to see but it was just because of Ma Lin's good tactic and Wang Liqin's bad form.

During the final, I really thinked Wang Hao would win. He was faster, more powerful and with better placement. But Ma Lin, at the end, managed to have Wang Hao playing in his forehand and counter loop it in style. But IMO Wang Hao was the best player of the tournament.

I just watched the match between Wang Hao against Schlager & Samsonov, Wang Hao skill is improved, higher accuracy on his shot, comfident level improved, mid/long distance rally also improved.

Absolutly ! Timo Boll is NOT quite as good as Ma Lin or Wang Liqin.

Sure, he could beat Ma in World Cup last year, Sure, he could beat Wang in the World Cup last year. Face to Face, he always has good chances.
But the big difference between Boll and Wang/Ma is that Boll is not able to beat any kind of player (kreanga, samsonov).
The Chinese are just so perfect, they have no problems with "special" europeans as Samsonov (excellent blocking....)
Boll might be good against the chinese, but he always has problems with any kind of europeans !

Wang Liqin looked like he gave the game away to ma lin.  He didn't look like he was complaining too much about his mistakes during his match against ma lin.  i think he does not care who wins, just as long as one of the chinese players win the final.  he played more serious against chuan than ma.  i guess is their chinese way of dealing things.  someone has to win the final right?  i have to admit that ma lin's forehand became faster just as wang hao's rpb got better.  if you watch wang liqin's game against chuan, you will notice that he has been improving his backhand and is trying to become more balance from both wings.
