What do you think if I've my FH: Tackifire Special Soft and BH: Double Fish Long Pimples 1615 (OX) .. together with the blade of Donic Cayman ?

I'm considering my FH: either Stiga Carbo MC or Butterfly Tackifire Special Soft
BH: either Long Feint III OX or Double Fish 1615 OX.
Blade: either Donic Cayman or Stiga HyperTech CR 35/45.

I'm kind of indecisive of which to use .. any suggestion ? Or perhaps you can suggest me other types of blade or rubbers ..

It's my impression based on feedback that the 1615 is a versatile pip, but like most chinese pips it still favors agressive play (blocking, punching, and hitting)  being a little stiffer and faster than others.  The butterfly is more like what a chopper would use being very soft and reasonably spinny so you can add with the chop.

If you're looking for a sub to the butterfly, maybe look at the dawei 388d-1 which is a lot softer and favors chopping.

Hopefully someone else will add their 2 cents, as I am horrible with long pips and am reaching way back in the memory banks on this stuff.

what is this ???

I do chopping sometimes ... but I do blocking more often, and sometimes smashing the ball with the long pimples. I was told 1615 was quite good, but not sure how good is it ..

just so you know all the "a vs b" are very different from each other. Iv tried both those LP's and they are very different. same with the blades and FH rubbers. all very different from each other.  if you like a brand stick with it. stiga makes a very good LP thats called destroyer.

I used the 1615 OX for a while...when used correctly the spin reversal was impressive, but I found it rather hard to control away from the table.  I'm currently using the dawei 388d 1.0mm which I find to be much easier for chopping from mid-long distance

mind to elaborate ? Thanks in advance ..
I don't have a particular brand that I like .. but usually I would prefer stiga blade and butterfly rubber ..

For aggressive play a spinny long pimple with a sponge would probably be more suitable.

From memory (long time ago) the 1615 has fairly rigid pimple and not a lot of friction. This would probably suit close to the table blockers that like to block loops short with heavy spin reversal.

If you wish to attack and hit more, a bit of grip and a little sponge would make it a lot easier....

A friend of mine uses the dawei 388 d-1. And i also have hit a little with it.

The control fr chopping at mid\far distance is very very good! For blocking close to the table it gives good effect, but a little hard to control. But its possible to attack pretty well with it after a little training. The one i tested was a red 1.0 mm.

Infact my medium pips (dawei 388c-1) is quite similar. My pips gives a little less effect, but its a little easier to attack with. Also the medium pips gives a little harder feeling, the long ones are softer.

The cayman i havent tried but i have tried the stiga hypertech. Its seems to be a good allround blade, but the backhand side isnt slower than the forehand, i guess its just marketing?

This is a totally new version.  I expect it will be closer to savigaV than the old 388d-1

does anyone has video clip or guide on how to use long pimples ? I find that I'm not a good user of LP.

What would you do if you're using LP and your opponent use LP too ?

I have one dvd that DrN made. At one time he gave them away when you bought his rubber.

Before I suggest anything I think most people should be chopping with inverted rubbers. You can still be very defensive with donic slice 40 or tackfire chop.

that aside.  1615 is for blocking and hiting. I used it. I hated it. more because I tired it in ox than because its a stiff LP. Feint III on the other hand is very soft and only effective at the long distance. Its horrible at blocking and hitting. Feint II or stiga destroyer is a nice in the middle LP.

The donic caymen is extremly light and only moderatly slow. Its a weird feeling.  Some might like it I did not. Iv never tried the hypertech but I do know that stiga makes great blades and their advertising dept is full of sh*t. hypretch, wrb, CR its all crap.

I love the TSS. I use it. It is painfully slow and should not be considered an offensive weapon. It chops decent  and has great control. The carbo Iv never used but its most likely much faster (although Id probably go with almana or optimum)

Tackifire Special Soft is slow ? then what about tackifire Special ? The speed rating for both of these are quite high ...
I would like to have a fast rubber on my FH ..

Butterflys speed rating is just like anyones opinion,  including mine, subjective.

On a whole, as a company Butterfly tends to make  slower rubbers than most other competitors. Donic, Andro, Stiga have all made very advanced rubbers. Butterfly has made advanced rubbers aswell...ten years ago. Im sure many will disagree :/  Im just another voice on the wall.

FH rubber is all up to you. Donic Cayman is a nice blade for LP but I think it's too small. You may want to try something like Dr.Neubauer Firewall Plus blade. 1615 is also nice but it's a little difficult to control. Try Friendship 837 with no sponge. It's the easiest LP to use but it has a lot of sink effect. Firewall Plus + 837 will definitely help your game a lot.

i'm currently using friendship 755 without sponge, FH: friendship RITC 729, and Donic Appelgren Falcon (a blade that's really old, I saw it on bid on ebay, not sure what so good about it ... ????)
sink effect ? isn't that great  ?
I would really prefer FH to be fast .. if tackifire is slow, then i guess i need to change then ...

RITC 755 are pretty darn good , DHS C8, also Nittaku has some decent pips that are suitable for attacking...but then again why not just get short pips

well .. don't really like short pips effect .. long pimples is more fun and harder to control ..

what about dawei 388d-1 ? is it good for aggressive play ? or Double fish 1615 is better ?
