I have the Ma Lin carbon and it has 5 wood plies and two thin carbon plies and in Paddle Palace catalog shows that Gatien Carbon has 3 wood plies with 2 carbon plies. There are 2 very thin wood plies at the surface and a thick wooden ply at the center.

I use Ma Lin Carbon with Yasaka New Era for fh and the blade is not exceptionally fast but has very good control. Good for blocking and pretty much everything. Unfortunately, I don't know anything about the Gatien Carbon.

o the gatien carbon has 2 carbon layers on the outside and 3 wood in the middle, that puts me off now, i would of bought it if the carbon layers were on the outside, cuz it suits my game more , for someone who loops most the time i would imagine that the ma lin carbon would be better to generate spin .

I should have been more specific, the layout is for the Ma Lin carbon, there are two very thin layers at the surface followed by a thin carbon layer and then the core.

I borrowed last week a speed glued racket (Bty Taksim, Magna 2.2mm) and it felt like I was driving an aumomatic car. With Ma Lin carbon you have to really swing the racket to generate spin but the control is good.

actually on the gatien the carbon layer is the second layer after a thin layer of wood then theres 1 thick layer of wood in the middle. i made a mistake when i said the carbon layer was on the outside (when u look it u might think that but u have to look closer) i just found out that no blades are designed like that, so i was told.. the ma lin carbon just sounds like a slightly stiffer more stable version of the gatien, but the thing i like about the gatien is that it is springy so you can do quick loops easy. I take it the ma lin carbon is not springy?

I talked to someone who has both blades and he told me that the ma lin carbon blade is slightly faster. I assume ma lin blade should be less "springy" than the gatien carbon. The selection of the rubber sheet would make a differerence too, etc.
