Ok...I put a Bryce PowerSponge and a Sriver PowerSponge on my TBS on June 29th...prior to the US open. My Alu bag finally broke last week...and I also noted that my paddle was no longer "smelly". I played one more session, and while I did not play badly the effect was definitely no longer there. But the loss of effect was so gradual that my game had adjusted to the changed rubber. So I cut open a new Bryce PS...and wow the solvent was extremely strong now that I know what to smell for. So I swapped bags and speed glued an older piece of sriver to my backhand (ok...trying to get by until my next rubber order :-P) So effectively the rubber only lasted a little over 2 months for me. But I do play 3-4 times a week for about 3-5 hours per session. As well as having almost a complete week of playing everyday while the open was in town. The entire time I kept the blade in the AluBag and only reglued the rubbers back one time using basic chack (errant pushes had pulled back the rubber) When I had glued the PS rubbers initially...they were slightly larger than my blade face as I glued first and then cut the excess rubber off. After removal the old PS rubbers had shrunk ALOT. There was a gap of at least 7mm between the top of the rubber and the tip of my blade. Now the question...is it worth the money? Hard to say for me as I had not tracked my speed glue cost for the amount I play. I will probably continue with a few more sheets...well at least until my wife finds out :-P -pokerden |
