    Posted: 07/27/2006 at 12:30pm
I have noticed that cjines rubbers always are a lot cheaper than other rubbers. Also, amongst other rubbers there are a huge gap when it comes down to the price. Still I find there rating to be almost the same. In some case the cheaper rubber is rated better than the more expensive ones. So, how can this be? I know that chinese rubbers are produced with low cost (wages etc etc) but other brands are also made in china without pricereduction for the players.

So, now to the question; Are the more expensive rubber supposed to last longer or are they just priced after theire brand?

As you can see I play with both DHS G666 and Globe 999 wich are really cheap rubbers but with great capacity, so why bother buying the expensive ones? Please explain this to me, I need to tell my dearest why I need so much money to play TT

Tell your family that the production of tt rubbers and or speedglue involves petroleum and recent high oil prices are making rubbers very costly. It's worth a shot

Cost and the increase in spin are the reasons I changed to chinese rubbers.  Who can complain about $14 per sheet, but even they are coming out with premium sheets that cost up to $30+.

SPONSORSHIP and Marketing determines the price.

1-The more top players you sponsor, the more you market, the more money a company needs to give out. this leads to the neccessity to increase product prices.

2-Also as a result is more people knowing and using the brand, increase in demand also means increase in price.

the chinese brands can be very inconsistent with quality control. you might love a particular rubber combined with a particular sponge softness but then when you buy the same rubber next year ,to replace your worn out sheet, it might feel v different. such as the sponge may be softer or harder. friendship have the best reputation for qc with chinese stuff and even their stuff can vary from batch to batch. it is getting better though. if you buy a european rubber by tibhar, donic, joola, stiga etc or a buttefly rubber you will be guaranteed exactly the same rubber and sponge from year to year without fail. some people will pay more for that. of course production costs in japan and europe are higher too. i still think jap and euro prices are a rip off though. the chinese prices seem more realistic for what is basically just a sheet of rubber sponge and glue.

The European and Japanese have better quality control and are more consistent but even they vary but not as much as the chinese.

try a chinese salute loop with a euro/jap rubber, if you can get it, it is amazing! most rising TT players in china use euro/jap rubbers, but use chinese style, and the play is amazing!
