Topic: "AMAZON" blade test request thread

Subject: "AMAZON" blade test request thread
Date Posted: 04/30/2012 at 5:47am
Prez Moon PM'd me to get some AMAZON blades in the hands of testers. I have to pre-allocate some here and there... like to myself (I will pass it along for further testing to someone else like I did with an earlier blade) (I am still trying out Calix now and then) and I choose to toss a bone to arg0 for running the Nexy clan thread, so.... drum roll....

There are a lucky 7 more AMAZON blades to hit the streets of MyTT members and their clubs/venues!

The rules of engagement will be the same as previous NEXY events of this manner.

I will select a 4 digit number. Members who want to be a tester of AMAZON will post to this thread ONE guess, a 4 digit number. like say 1234. The event will run for one week. yes, that is 7 days. Seven is such a nice number, no. After I close entries, I will compare forum members' guesses to the secret number. I will announce the winners of the event in this thread and NEXY staff will know who they are.

IF... a MyTT forum memebr is selected for testing, your instructions are as follows...

Wait for the announcement on the thread before trying to order. Once NEXY directly gives the order to procede, or when he asks me to publish the order, I will post again to the thread to tell the winnes to procede to Nexy.com to order anything from the shop and mention in the shopping cart remarks that you are a test blade winner from MyTT and state your forum screen name. NEXY staff will toss in a free AMAZON with your order. You may request such and such weight, but it may or may not be available. Plus, the weight of the blade of course will change with humidity conditions. You pay for your order to include EMS shipping and NEXY staff will sh*t the order out pronto.

The winners of the event will effectively be paying for the shipping and whatever item(s) from NEXY shop for the chance to tryout the AMAZON.

Winners of the event shall test the AMAZON and post a full review in a timely manner. Initial impressions are great and encouraged, but I ask everyone to please complete a full and detailed review. There is no mandated or required things you must discuss, so use good judgement and love in this matter.

Although the blade will become the property of each winner of the event, I ask that everyone consider passing it along to others to test, not required, but that would be a cool thing to do. If the shipping cost was dear to you, you could always ask the next one testing it to pay for some of the shipping if he/she goes along with it. Just saying.

having said all that...

LET THE GUESSSING BEGIN!

BH-Man,

I have one suggestion.
I think people here need to know first what Amazon is.
If they just vote for it without reading or checking anything about Aamazon,
then that mean they can be only freerider.

Is there any idea about this?

With thanks, Oscar.

What about letting them visit nexy.com and got any words from the explanation from Amazon?
Or else, they can visit my nexy designers' diary and get any word from the Ayous explanation?

Just an idea~!!

But if you think this is too late, then we can reconsider this idea for next blades, later.

The first thing most of us should have done is go on nexy.com to find out what exactly it is. No point in testing out the next big defensive blade if you're an offensive player right? I was a little disappointed that the description said it was not perfect and not trust worthy. Blade preferences are incredibly subjective, one person's perfection may be another person's worst. Maybe with this test you will find that it is a better blade than you originally thought.

Also, just put the description, or a summary of it, in the first post of the thread.

I agree. Blade preference is a big factor when choosing a blade and one man's waste can be another's treasure. The whole "not perfect and not trust worthy" somewhat took me back, but overall the blade itself seems like something worth taking a look at! Wink

yep, I've read the description, stiff and softish off- blade, it seems, with a rather thick Ayous 2nd and 6th layers, and the thin carbon as the 3rd and 5th ply is supposed to provide rigidity and hopefully a larger hot spot.

IMHO, according to my experience soft and stiff blades play very well for topspin and control offensive players with offensive rubbers (ex. Vega Pro with 1.9 or 2 mm sponge) or for defensive for defensive rubbers such as antis... (though I lack very good understanding of defensive setups cause I never played with such for more than 15 minutesWink

It is time to reveal the secret number and list the 7 winners of the AMAZON blade....

Secret number is....

My post count as of this thread.... which is 1457

The 7 forum members who guessed closest to the number are listed below.

1305 vandoorn
1369 128YinYang
1424 xander7803
1472 speaquinox
1492 Kaimana
1609 Joyner1980
1651 drclaude1

Edit: Failed to see drclaude's & Joyner's guesses, sorry dudes, but corrected it promptly. Could you consider giving Ybflash and Dbailey a try after you test it, I thought their guesses were closer at first. Thanks.

Everyone who is a winner, please wait for NEXY to pop on this thread and give the go ahead to order something from his shop and mention in hte comments of your order your forum screen name and that you are a winner of MyTT.net AMAZON free blade event.

Once NEXY gives the go-ahead and you receive your blade, please make initial comments and in a timely manner, make a fair and complete/detailed review. The blade will be yours to keep, but it would be great if you would all consider passing along the blade to other members for further testing and reviewing. If you are someone who got the blade passed along to you, or you simply just bought one, you are also welcome to post comments and reviews to the official AMAZON Review Thread. I will link your reviews to the first post to make it easier for those to see them all in one place.

I bet all of you on the next event will watch carefully my post count or that of other prominent forum members. Haha, I might choose another method of the number next time, so don't get too wrapped up on the post counts.

I will likely go personally to NEXY HQ to get my AMAZON this week or weekend. I will post comments/reviews/updates, then ship it off to a USA member for further testing and ask him to ship it off to England and so on. Those threads that Tommy has done in the past are good, but the fun is trying a blade and allowing others to try.

Wow, BH_Man.  You are getting too predictable. Tongue  If I had entered this contest, I was going to guess a number that I thought would be your post count at the end (and I would have waited until the last days for accuracy ;-), but I haven't been playing competitively at all lately, and though if I won, it wouldn't really be fair to others who have been playing and would be able to give a better review than I would.

To all that won congrats, and give us great reviews!

One way to be unpredictable is to make the apperance of being predictable, then pull out the carpet, kinda like making a knuckle serve that appears to be heavy cut, which results in a popup. I did the similar secret number this time and if you look, I emphisized the number 7 and it got a lot of responses close to it.  Not a lot of forum members were willing to stake their only guess on a similar number.

On a separate note, if you make a strong FH topspin to your opponent's wide Faah, then a good idea for the next strong dive is to send it back with strong spin and power right back where it came from.

Next time, if there is a next time, could be even more unpredictable.

Actually, this was probably the only time in my life I would have guessed right...LOL

I'm sure next time (if I actually try to win) I'll be nowhere near whatever the correct number is.Cry
