Same is Apollo rubber. Be aware, the great tackiness of topsheet will produce less spin. Konrad Tiefenbacher, a sport engineer of Germany, proved this effect back in 1980s. |

THREE SECRETS OF CHINESE GRIPPY RUBBERs. Actually, Chinese rubber manufacturers have developed three different technologies for producing table tennis rubber sheets with tacky surface. Very specific technologies, very intricate machinery in use. 1) As is a common knowledge with all table tennis folks, table tennis rubber must be durable and elastic to project the ball forcefully, and the smooth surface must be grippy to better spin the ball. Back in 1972, Tianjin Friendship factory presented a novelty rubber material producing a really tacky feeling to the touch. And the Europeans can't make the such so far. The most popular technology to produce stickiness on rubber surface makes use of the effect of "incomplete vulcanization". The whole of rubber piece is heated to 120*Celsius while the outer side is only heated to 70*Celsius. Thus, the external surface of rubber sheet (a thinnest layer of hundredths of a millimeter) retains much similarity to a raw rubber material, i.e. it is very and very sticky. The disadvantage of this technology is obvious. The stickiness fades as the outer layer wears out. This method was first invented by the American engineer Henry Fischer in 1934. An innovation of dubious legality that does not comply with the ITTF rules at all. Just purchase a sample and tear off the outer layer of silicon material. See the photo.
