Hello guys, Im whondering how i should put my thumb on the edge. Here are two photos:

While not a strong player, I studied this issue. All young pros use grip 731, which makes BH loops/flicks/counters easier (that's true even for me). 618 is only seen among older players (Fang Bo, Bastian Steger, Ovidiu Ionescu, Timo Boll).
I went with 618 nevertheless to increase my FH power. By now (two years later) I am practicing changing the grip when changing sides, with some success.

What would be the better thumb position according that im a very forehand orientated player?

Either. Which one feels more comfortable and natural to you? Also it is not uncommon for players to switch grip slightly between FH and BH.

| if you predict where the ball is going you can change into a stronger grip/position for a stronger ball. if i do a weak push i except them to hit it to the middle. if i do a extremely heavy push i expect a weak push back, or slow spinny topspin and i move feet and grip.
