No, it's Optm. PLUS, surprisingly light n comfy, good 4 my kid. Just powerful / fast enough n stable for him. Optm 7? No idea how fast/sweet it is, 7 plys is too much for my liking, but I'ven't tried therefore can't say much....

Not at all :) The blade itself is quite light...it's around 85.5 grams, and I usually play with long pips on my backhand

Some are... My MPS is a very good example as it weighs 101g...but ohhh it's worth it.

At what distance do they typically play? Do they chop with their backhand or just use LPs/SPs to block? You should mix up strong loops with smashes and pushes...

Now..now...Kennie..r n't u a bit, tiny bit narrow-minded there.(then again BEAUTY is in the eye of the beholder) Ah..yes..Donic n Yasaka blades have got quality..no doubt about that n relatively affortable..Btys are getting more n more expensive..but the one I've were quite cheap..I used to have one DONIC PERSSON POWERPLAY V2 but just a little slow but the head is smaller n compact, I sold it 4 very good price, it took alot of abuse from me...

Hi Kannie,

Looks like you are an expert of Yasaka blades.  What is the difference between Ma Lin Soft Carbon and Gatien Extra 3D Soft Carbon?  Some say that they are the same but Ma Lin blade is mainly for Asian market. Is this right?  Which Yasaka pure wood blade you would recommend for looping and close to table attack?

havent tried the donic dotec but i know they are not made in sweden, so i guess they dont have the same quality like other donic blades

and for the question about yasaka blades, if you put a layer of laquer on the blade, they dont splinter, for example ma lin wanted 6 layers of laquer  on his blad from the yasaka factory. Some yasaka blades are already laquered in the factory, like ma lin carbon, soft carbon, synergy etc.

to linn88

the yasaka ma lin soft carbon and the extra 3d soft carbon are very similiar. the only difference is the 3d cut in the extra 3d soft carbon. but the construction of 5 wood layers and 2 carbon layers is the same. its true that the ma lin blades are more sold in asia but they are now growing in europe too.

if you want a pure wood yasaka blade for looping and close attack i think you should try the yasaka max wood, its very fast and similiar to stiga clipper but max wood has more feeling and its pure wood. the normal yasaka extra is also good but a bit more control than max wood.

I think the more recently produced blades have the product number. From what I hear it's for authenticity identification. Some people have numbered viscarias, but the one I had did not have a serial number. Makes no difference if you buy from a trusted shop. I bought mine from Dandoy-sports =)

Well...We should find out from Shij421..I'm eager to know too...as far as I can tell, its head is smaller, more compact, i.e. foot print is smaller n  therefore less rubber, less weight, slower but more control than PKorbel, Zhang yining...prettier looking, like a new kid in town.

Hey tiehwen, thank you for all your help but are you sure that my jpeg or other picture file can only be as big as 200 kb? Because the other pictures in here seem to be very high quality and i doubt that they are under 200 kb for example the close up of shij421 tbs, because my picture is also a higher quality!

Posted By: tiehwen
Date Posted: 02/13/2007 at 10:15pm

I used Microsoft Digital Image Standard 2005 Editor @ home OR Microsoft Picture Manager @ the office to "CROP" out the area of jpeg I wanted to show n further resize/shrink the image to <200 kb but all the time I still maintain the resolution...u can also try Shij421's method...

Compare to other Stiga blades that I ve had, I feel that this one is the most suitable for my style, since I dont speed glue any more, even H3 in OC CR WRB is not fast enough, or the Titanium 5.4 wrb, just too fast and kinda "weirdly" soft.

Basically, I am an allaround offensive player, opening play with flips, on both FH or BH side, than follow with loop drives, also with both FH and BH. The specialty of this blade is that I asked Dandoy to get me the 85g Clipper blade, and I think the blade is around that range, allowing me to swing fast to counter loop when I m close to the table.

As a matter of fact, it's ugly but I just said it in the NICEST way so I won't upset/offend the proud owner..I've seen it in some blurry online catalogue but never so clear n close n I saved it onto my slide show so that I could show my son n also my colleagues...I guess "IT" hasn't been played huh, and What an ugly son of a gun....!
Cheers

I hold it just like a normal blade! you're backhand shots become way more powerfull and spinnier. The weight is normal. Really nice blade for fast offensive players that don't do perndulum services. Yes I am 2 Dear too use it because pendulum is very difficult! It takes 2 much time to change my service! And I don't have time enough! I train twice a week for about 1.5 hour and 15 minutes free playing.

@Ksix: Originally it was not my xiom blade it was one of my friends after he broke it up in pieces in a rage. I just collected the pieces for fun and fixed it together with a everything glue. I have to get the last wood layers off the blade but it will be easy with some tool.
I didnt tried it out yet, originally it was a very fast blade and very direct(definetly OFF+). But i think if im going to play with it with rubbers on it it will be vibrating to much and then there will be not much feeling of control that comes up with many blades only if they have a little crack!

@tiehwen: The Opticon blade is the one i play with currently it is good at speed and has a lot of control and feeling ive tried faster and harder blades before but they dont suit my play style as well as a little more control. About the Dotec blade it is similiar to the Opticon but it has balsa in it so it has a lot of feeling and maybe a little more speed. But all of the blades did always loyal services for me except the Xiom blade!!

Hey sunflex this is the first time i seing a blade like that when it was made of an actually brand! Ive seen a player like that on a tournament a while ago, i got also the honor to play against him in the end i won against him he was very good in blocking and over the table and close to the table play. First i couldnt trust my eyes, everybody called him "The Pistol Man".
Because when i asked him about his blade he told me that he carved it himself of a piece of wood, i asked him after he told me that if it is allowed to play with that blade the discussion started.... .
In the end i checked in the rules and found out that the shape and size of the blade is optional it just has to be of 80% wood, correct me if im wrong!

Beautiful, I must say ! Peter your collection might compete silvalis's. Zoranv is still far far ahead thow. I'm curious about the diff in between Ishlion and KC. Could you enlight us ? Also how come you play with violin as you are the happy owner of some of the fastest blades of the universe ? Are Violin + cermet comparable in terms of speed to let's say KC plus sriver EL ?

thnks.

Hello JCDI,
Ishlion and KC have the same woody feel, it's hard, not like Sardius or Schlager carbon. It suits someone who want to buy the carbon blade that has a woody characteristic.
I like the touch of Voilin, but it's not fast when you try to loop or smash.
I'm just curious because so many people in this forum use it.
I'm waiting for Acoustic, because it's faster.
Violin + Cermet glued is the same as KC plus Sriver EL unglued.
So it's an all around blade not offensive as mentioned by Nittaku.
I use Ishlion now, head heavy, slower than Donic Crisan Titanium.
