Fast, pretty light, good for powerlooping but bad for slow spinny control-loops! I've got one but it's no good for me, if you're interested you can buy it, I've only played with it once!

ah sounds good for me, Nimbus is quite hard though isnt it? so wouldnt it be fairly heavy?

Posted By: master-pong
Date Posted: 02/18/2007 at 5:55am
It doesn't feel that hard, Torpedo for example is a lot harder. Probably as hard as Bryce..medium hard and light at the same time..

If you want to buy it, PM me Wink

maybe torpedo feels alot harder because theres no speed glue effect? Its bettwen donic coppa jo gold and nimbus.I hear nimbus is faster, i saw one at a club i go to but i didnt have a chance to play with it, plus i like to get the opinion of more than just one person before i buy something. How is it for hard fast blocking

very good actually.
I do believe there are a few more people here that play with Nimbus. Try 'n use the search function here or at tabletennis.gr

No problem,
However I must say I couldn't really notice the speed glue effect that much as with (for example) the Butterfly Powersponge rubbers.

i thought that might be the case but im sure the nimbus is much better for the short game and touch shots because bryce is really bouncy. Correct me if im wrong as i havent tried either bryce powersponge or nimbus but i do know regular bryce is already very bouncy

First, Nimbus is medium hard. Midsoft topsheet and medium hard sponge. The tensor effect is really good. Way better than Tango Extrem and F1. Its really heavy. Average weight cutted is 48g - 50g. Size is 15.8 x 15 cm (Stiga blade size and max sponge). So its even a bit heavier than h3 and bryce. Coppa Gold is similar to Nimbus. Green Energy is similar to Plasma 430. Plasma 470 sucks badass. I cant recommend it. If you want max tensor effect than buy f2, f3. Nimbus with Ma Lin Carbon is a looping beast.
Tensor, PS, Speedglued comparion imo:
wetglue, 4 layers = 100% speedglue effect
fresh PS = ~60%
soft Tensor (F2,F3) =~60%
medium soft Tensor (Energy, 430)=~50%
medium Tensor (Nimbus, Coppa Gold)=~45%
hard Tensor (470, COR) = ~30%

whats the difference between coppa gold and nimbus, i thought nimbus had a medium hard topsheet not a midsoft? Which one is better for hard blocking and quick powerloops?

I played the Nimbus in 2.0mm (red) and it's around 44 grams. Which is quite light for a rubber like this!

my playstyle is near table with quick forehand powerloops. Thats why my favorite glue rubber is bryce. Now im satisfied with nimbus. Nimbus and Coppa Gold are identical but beware of the heavy ones. Nimbus 100g - 102g and Coppa Gold 110g incl. package. They are cutted 50g - 52g. Tensor effect is weaker because of a bit harder topsheet. Dont misunderstand me. The Nimbus topsheet is medium hard but due Tensor it plays softer like mid soft. Well i dont have a machine to measure the hardness, so its all my personal feel.

1st....never put speed glue on it :(

i'm using nimbus about 2 month, expensive, great for looping, spinning machine, incredible sound and off course the best for smash.....
but after using this rubber for 1 month, it loose that spin.......(maybe cos i'm  playing every day:D.....) and then i put glue (dhs power speed) and....nightmare begin :( i'm sure that it make the sponge "damage", this rubber loose it speed and spin, just like  cheap rubber.....
right now, i pell away the glue and ....its better for my BH....

FYI...i'm using sriver fx for FH to replace nimbus....i've to put 5 layers speed glue  to get nimbus experience

wow sounds like this stuff really works, i guess the speed and spin goes after a month because the speed glue effect wears off like the butterfly powersponges, i think thats a good sign though, as it means it was really working. You should get an airtight container or one of those co2 bags that butterfly makes, then the effect will probably last longer.

Every Store i see Nimbus for Sale say in big letters "DO NOT USE SPEED GLUE WITH THIS RUBBER"

Of course, if you use speed glue with Nimbus it will destroy the sponge then you will loose speed and spin from this rubber. (Recommend for sheet glue player)

Beware about Nimbus topsheet is thin (around 0.5-1mm) but pimple is big.

The same sponge of Nimbus is "Yasaka Xtend HS" but the topsheet of HS is thinker than Nimbus.

dkore dyo think theyre ever gonna make bryce hard powersponge?

Posted By: dkore
Date Posted: 02/20/2007 at 12:37am
bryce hard is not faster than bryce power sponge and need to glue if you want to use real power of it.

The topsheet of bryce hard is same to bryce (only the sponge is harder).

ya i know byrce powersponge is faster than bryce hard, i just prefer harder sponge its better suited for my game, i was just curious to see if in the future theyre gonna make bryce HARD powersponge then i would consider buying it, but not byrce powersponge. Im about to tryout the nimbus anyways and ive got a good feeling this will be suited perfectly for me so there will be no need to change. Also on butterfly online it says bryce degree hardness is 35 and 38, these numbers would be very soft for other rubbers like tibhar etc.. so is the reason why bryce and i assume bryce hard feels harder and faster is because of the harder topsheet and the large amount of tension that is built in?

just tried out the nimbus for the first time, i am VERY pleased with it. Definitely got the sped glue feel, fast, and very spinny. Anyone who says it is not really spinny must be doing slow strokes so they expect alot of dwell time to generate spin. Even though when you feel it feels medium/medium hard its got a fairly soft feel cuz of the speed glue effect. I was hoping it would feel harder but infact its got the advantages of a harder rubber e.g. blocking, better over the table play, easier to keep the ball lower, faster... Ive tried out a few built in speed glue effect rubbers and this is EASILY the best one. Highly recommend it.

congrats to a good decisionClap. Some advise from a veteran nimbus user. Add 2 or 3 layers of normal glue. It gives the nimbus a better feel. But it softens it a bit, too. Be aware that all tensors shrinks over time. Mine are roughly 1 cm shorter now. Someone stated that before you cut and put it on the blade, you need to let the rubber uncut over night, so that it dont shrink that much after time.

So as soon as you've glued it with Speedglue you can basicly throw it away...it really needs to be done with normal glue?

no, you can use speedglue, too. But the tensor effect is better when you use normal glue. Just my opinion.

do not speedglue tensor rubbers

This rubber is very adapted for fresh-glueing. The medium rubber turns a bit softer then. You dont get much more speed but the rubber is softer and more "spinny"

(sorry for my bad english , i am a german)

its soft enough as it is any softer will make it worst for quick loops over the table play serves. Plus it actually feels pretty soft just as it is. I only put one thin layer of normal glue just enough so it will stick. If u want a really soft rubber buy joola energy.

just played again with the nimbus the second time i played with it and was disappointed. the first time was fine as i mentioned above because the normal glue had a sort of speed glue effect. I thought because i put just 1 layer of normal glue in the day and i played at night that it wouldnt make much difference but now i played today with it its not as fast or spinny. So im gonna try out byrce powersponge. How soft is byrce powersponge?

Posted By: ????
Date Posted: 02/22/2007 at 2:22am
see if i was stronger and had a big loop it would be fine . But im not exactly very strong and have compact quick powerloops. But its still a decent rubber just not for me

does speedglue damage or doesn't damage nimbus and nimbus soft?

I ve been using nimbus for about a month now, just loving it, play 2/3 times a week, let's see how long it will last but me thinks me next rubber will be nimbus as well, in my new blade i mean. Used to use Bryce PS before.

So how's its durability? Smile  I am considering giving it a try.

What are you writing there? Nimbus is not heavy. It is one of the lightest rubbers. Don't compare it with H3, because H3 is one of the heavier rubbers. And Coppa Gold is not similar to Nimbus. What you write here is completely wrong.

BTW: Nimbus can generate spin, of course, if you powerloop. But you can hardly generate softloops with it. It has not much gears. It is a good rubber for counter hitting, driving, smashing. For variable loopers
it is the wrong rubber.

I've given it a try and i don't care for it.  It's way too soft and the throw angle is super high.  I'm not saying it's a bad rubber but it sure as heck didn't fit my style of play

I played with Nimbus for a long time. played 10-12 hours a week and it lasted 5-6months, both sheets. Best tensor and speed glue effect rubber i have ever played with. Kept the speed and spin up untill 5months, then it started to lose its grip a bit but the speed was still there. Needed to clean with water now and then but after 6months defo needed changing.

The Nimbus Series is absolutely amazing, great quality and durability and it does what it says. I have played with Nimbus, Nimbus Soft and Now playing with Sound.  The topsheets r a little thin but still they have the feeling they are all ment to have.  Nimbus probably has the most gears out of the 3 but it requirs better technique.
