When you accidently pop up a ball for an easy smash, do you ever try to hit it back or do you just let them have the point? Lets assume you only have about 5 feet of room to move back and forth.

when you pop one up just look at the angle of his blade to guess where he will hit it, then stick your blade out at an angle as to block it,you will get 1 in 20 back on his side of the table and unless your playing Waldner he won't return it

whatever you do "don't" look for the ball as you won't see it until it goes past you

I can do it sometimes: I just react treating it like any other fast exchange. Occasionally pulled it off in matches. My teammate is brilliant at it, and he persuaded me to ALWAYS make a stroke at every ball no matter how hopeless. He is famous throghout the league for killing kills back

Wow that would be such an amazing thing to do especially if you repeatedly do it. Maybe I should get someone to continously smash against me to help me improve hitting smashes back

What my friend paolo and i (both sp with big Flat kills) do is to take turns counterhitting at each other alternate rallies. We dont try to be consistent but we do play more or less back to each we kill from the first opportunity -even service of course some rallies are just one shot. Paolo in particular will when its my turn to kill will block a few and then unleash a mighty kill on the next one. His percentage is probably 60% in practice. Before I did this
practice with him I used to wonder at his amazing counterkills in matches, but now I understand the work he puts in. and luckily for me I am learning to do it too. Its important to stay close as much as possible and really slug it out in this practice imho

If someone smashes it at you, it will hit the table going downwards meaning the ball will travel high after hitting the table.

Just wait for the ball and then slap it on . Works for me 19/20 times ><

Watch out if its got topspin though

I try to predict where it will go and chop it and back off the table. Whatever you do, make sure you back off a bit and predict where it will go, beyond that its up to you.

i like returning smashes. i just go 4-5 meters away from table and try to return it with very much topspin/sidespin lob. this ball is very difficult to hit when done properly.

I'm sure Samsonov is the world's best player in returning smashes.

Smashing also very hurts.NukeNukeNukeOuch

When I am going back on the defend, I first make a high ball which lands long out on the table. The smasher often gives bad smahes then, and you can start looping and ge tinto the ball again!

Blade: Avalox

I have stopped gluening now, I play as good without. Donic desto F3 Big slam gives klick anyways...

for me - slightly move back and get ready for blocking because smashing pop-up ball normally very fast. always try to predict which way the ball will go ??? actually pop-up ball can be predicted , it about 70% or more if u are a very experience players. Just ask yourself - if u doing a smashing hard or killing shoot, which side u will choose ??? normally is your flaour spot . we call that human nature. therefore if your opponent is smashing you, dont worry , try to study their killing spot and u will be no problem when playing next time !!!
