That will glue the rubber to the blade rather permanently. You will need lots of acetone to peel it off; damaging the sponge in the process is very likely.

I think I am going to play it safe, and seal my blades using polyurethane and then use rubber cement. And I will use the thin kind.

what type of hairspraiy is best for sealing your blade and how should you apply iit?

Any kind really.  I just squirt 3 or 4 shots onto each face and rub it in.  I'm not sure this is a permanent seal, and you may want to do it occasionally when you change rubbers.

It is not permanent seal, I do it every few months if conditions are humid and I play a lot, or I do it after two or three rubber changes.

You spread it out with a piece of cloth, or sponge.  I use Clear Finish for wood (Satin) rather than hair spray, it protect the blade better.
