Today, I was fortunate enough to meet a player who returned to the game after a 40 year absence. He was asking me for advice on equipment. I asked him to show me his blade. He then pulled out of his metal zippered Butterfly case, carrying their first logo, a bat that I quickly recognized as an original, no lens, Hans Alser. He was unaware of any of the newer rubbers, and has put some new Sriver on it. I picked up that blade, and couldn't believe how well it felt in my hand. It was a flare. I can't remember if it came in any other style.  Even though the Sriver felt very dead, I was amazed at the feel of that blade on all types of shots. It's too bad that they don't make them like that anymore, or maybe they do. I just don't know.
