I couldn't find a thread about this topic via search.
So, as the Topic says: Which type of handle do you prefer? Me: Meanwhile I prefer conical handles. Not many manufacturers do produce them, so they are not wide spreaded (recently Stiga released it again). But thankfully I play a Palatinus blade who offers the ELcon handle. Before I liked straight handles most. I know that not all handles of the prefered form fits anyone. Some manufacturers are making very comfortable handles for someone, others are not so good. Some companies make different handles for their blades (Butterfly), some always have the same shape (Stiga). I didn't like handles that are too thin, I like it a little thicker. For example, I heard that some of Nittaku flared handles are thinner than straight ones. Please share your experience with the different handles of the manufacturers. P.S.: I hope I didn' forget one in the poll. |

I used to play Anatomic for a long time, then briefly switched to Straight, and now Flared. It depends on the blade, and whether or not you wrap the handle with a grip tape for comfort. To me, the most comfortable handle (unwrapped) belongs to the Butterfly Sardius (Flared). It fits my hand perfectly. Now I like smaller flared handles that I wrap (with Wilson tennis wrap or similar tapes) to make it softer and just right.

I usually prefer ST handles until I found the FL on the Donic Epox blades. Soooo devine feeling FL. Fits your hand like no other. I dislike small or thin handles, don't know why so many manufacturers continue to make them. I have small hands and it's a burden to find a great blade only to find the handle is to small.

Maybe because the blades are made by asian manufacturers and asian hands are smaller than western hands? I don't know. But it is true: with grip tape you can make small handles suitable for you. |

Forget grip tape or leather, wood feels best. Standard size for most flared grips should start at 100x26 and up. Even the Stiga Legend grip feels a bit small compared to the old Alser grip. Thin grips cause hand fatigue for long playing sessions unless a person who has very small hands such as women or children. As I stated before I do have small hands but the handle deminsions offered on many blades are a joke.

I never thought of it much or really cared. I do like the ST handles on my Samsonov Alphas bat that is because they are long. If I twiddled I would like to have round straight handles.

My saga with blade handles continues, I have the most trouble with Butterfly handles none of them are realy great handles except the Primorac .
I concur with all the comments made by zzz all are to thin for Western size hands. OK for the kids or Chinese.
I have yet to find the best handle for me the original straight Bengsston from back in the 70's with the curved top edge, felt so light and comfortable and zero hand fatige it long matches.
I currently use the BTY Photonic flared but only to try the blade, the handle is horrible is way too narrow, I don't get why they make them so tiny, maybe to bring down the weight ?

I began playing table tennis with FL, but recently I switched to ST and determined to stay with this handle. ST with square handle seemed to be very comfortable for holding and easier to perform looping from two wings IMO

Conic handle almost became extinct in the U.S.A. due to poor sales in the last 10 years. I see Stiga is bringing it back with new dimensions.

Actually, there are two kinds of JPen handles:
-J-1, the regular. -J-2, for two sided players or twiddlers.

I prefer ST over FL and AN. Recently bought a blade with CO handle. It feels very comfortable in the hand. I still have to to play with it, though.

I'm surprise so many here use straight handles, looking around at tournaments locally it's at least 90% FL

Which only testifies to the fact that ppl with predisposition to ST handles are more educated and have more free time they can waste on forums.

Also more used to stroking the straight handle maybe lol. What's the percentage of handles with the top 50 at the moment?
