I think we've reached a stage where there is no undisputable number 1 any longer. Anyone amongst the top 4 (WLQ, Ma Lin, Wang Hao and Timo Boll) can beat the other 3 when he's in great shape. Question is, what would happened if these 4 players were in equal good shape at the same time (very odd..) ? I believe WLQ still rules but of course it is very arguable. I believe he still has the more complete, powerfull weapons amongst the four. But since he has won more and longer than the others, maybe he lost part of his motivation. I hope he'll win Beijing Olympics 2008 as he deserves it and then go in a glorious retirement.

Table Tennis being very sensitive sport and human conditions being unstable at best, I think WLQ is still above the rest, as he has been for the past few years. At everyone's best top conditions and playing abilities, when WLQ turns it on, he is unbeatable. I've never seen anyone playing better in the history of Table Tennis, period. He is about as perfect as they come so far. It's like seeing a runner running 100 meters under 10 seconds.

Sure, Ma Lin and Wang Hao are good as they dominate everyone else in the world. But, they know that when Wang LiQin does not let them, they don't have a chance against him, as you can see their crumbling faces in these videos.

We should give the humble guy the respect he deserves that is overdue.

Wang LiQin still the Boss.

I've seen Ma Lin beaten. But never seen him give up.
He's well known for his never-say-die spirit.
But at the end of the game, he played like he wanted the torture to end as quickly as possible.

Wang Hao had been upstoppable pior to the match. But when Wang LQ turned it on in the last 4sets, he's like a boy palying with a man.

Wang LQ played some out-of-this-world table tennis.
He was AWESOME!!!

Lets use some metaphors,  Timo is a clever fox, Malin is an eagle always quick to catch, Wang Hao is a young tiger strong and skillful, Samsonov is a pythong-long skillful and strong if needed...and Wang Liqin is a soldier-well trained, brave...!

here, here!!  i totally agree!!

for some reason, (and i can only speculate as to why) he doesn't get the credit that someone who has been no. 1 for 2.5 yrs. straight and 2 yrs. straight before that should get!!

at present (and for the last 2.5 years), no one can beat him when he's playing at 100%, not even his teammates, who, you would think, should have the easiest time with him...

that said, i think ma lin and wang hao and ma long are close and if he's a little off, like at, say, 98%, they'll beat him, but if he's playing at 100% and the others the same, he'll win everytime--he just has too much game.

YOU SPECULATING, if somebody beats wlq youll say wlq is not playing 100%, then how you could tell if wlq is playing 100% i think you must have a huge wlq poster in your wall. you simply argue he s not 100% cos you cant bare seeing wlq losing

Lol... trust me, I am not a fan of Wang LiQin by any means. If anything, as a penholder, I am a fan of Wang Hao and Ma Lin if anyone. I admire the excellent RPB that Wang Hao does, as I am trying to learn it, but I am a short pips player, therefore my heroes are in line with people like Liu Gouliang and Jiang Jiliang. But, since I am a J-pen pips player, I also admire people like Kim Ki Taek and Hyun Jung Hwa. Now, I am trying to add the smooth rubber RPB to short pips J-pen. So, I don't have anyone at the moment who I am a total fan of, since no one visible in the world level TT plays this style.

But, in the realm of being fair to top players and as an avid fan of international top level TT matches, I admire the abilities of those who have achieved great level of skill. All I am saying is that when Wang LiQin turns it on, the execution of his superior skills do not seem to allow anyone else in the world to date to bring him down. It is just higher level Table Tennis from all aspects - serves, return of serves, quickly taking charge, ball control, changing directions, footwork, superior ralley at all distances, and powerful dominating forehand, piercing backhand, confident mental capacity, nimble lightening smooth movements...like a well fit puma going for a perfect kill..but always with humble presence..effectively aware of everything..pure concentration..controlled power being released at will..

It's not just winning a match, because a match can be won when both players are not playing at their best.. It's about playing superior Table Tennis, displaying confident execution of flawless perfection.. taking it to the human limitations. It doesn't matter to me whether he wins or loses. If I see someone playing even better Table Tennis, I will state it as such. I just haven't seen anyone yet. I am just giving Wang LiQin the well overdue respect I believe he deserves..  objectively.

Fukuhara 's backhand rubber is Attack8 M.

Pip alignment of Attack8 M is vertical while that of Attack8 L is horizontal.

Fukuhara's forehand rubber is Hurricane 3 and her blade is Butterfly Ai Fukuhara.
