I'd like to know if they're running on time and how many tables they're using.
I went to the USATT website and looked at the Nationals update. It was written in April. Edited by mts388 - 07/02/2022 at 1:01pm |

So far it’s been on time but every group only has 3 players with 1 advancing. The event final actually ends on the day of also.

110 tables means they'll run on time. Cutting the RR's to 3 players will also help, but not thrill the players who are used to 4 players. Didn't see anything on the entry form letting players know of the smaller RR's.

Don’t think it’s all groups of 3. Friend was in O-40 and had 4 players.

Looks like there isn't a dedicated results page as there used to be. A shame, I like to follow my friends in the USA when they play big events like this.

It appears that the USATT is doing a very good with the Nationals. I haven't heard a complaint from anyone. Usually at the Nationals they announce the location and dates of the Open. Have they done that yet?

Some people I know complained about the tables but I think that the scheduling has been good - I visited on Sunday night and all the matches I saw started on time. I know many people didn't come this year because of last year's mess which is unfortunate. Even the online stuff has been largely run on time.

All tables have flooring, good lighting, great tables and mostly on time! Overall a good experience. Thank you USATT for the improvement! Hopefully US open in December will be the same!

Horrible camera angle.
There are areas on the side and diagnol to the table that they can use without blocking any spectators It is so hard to see the shots on the table looking directly from behind a player

Yes thanks, though it isn't as friendly a website as what USATT had prior. Thanks though!

Holy illegal serves batman! The serve rules should go back to the way there were before. Either serve illegally or you are at a massive disadvantage.

It's the age old battle. Enforce the service rules, people cry and whine about it not being fair. Don't enforce them, cheaters prosper and honest people suffer.

Great come from behind win for Nikhil. Looked dead in the water but turned the match around in a hurry. Sharon just got a little tentative with his receives, and had a problem adjusting when the serve to the forehand was too wide and short for his banana flick receive. Nikhil has really excellent touch on his receives. I watched them several times in slow mo and was amazed by his feel.
Also, I don't think Nikhil's hook serve is illegal since his body does not hide the contact point. I watched it in slow mo several times and with him serving from both sides of the table. He used the same serve at the Tokyo Olympics without issue.

Hi,
So, at this juncture of the proceedings with the Trials and the Nationals, who are the country's top prospects? Considering age as an element of importance in potential, this is my list, in no particular order.
Were I to pick the top boy and girl prospect, it would be this. Boy: Ryan Lin (Maryland) Girl: Sally Moyland Thanks. Edited by DonnOlsen - 07/07/2022 at 8:45am |

Sally Moyland is easily the biggest prospect from the United States. She took out last year's National Champion, Amy Wang and played the United States top pro, Lily Zhang, pretty well in the finals. She's 15 years old but mature well beyond her years.

I've practiced next to Sally several times at Gao Jun's club, and I think Gao Jun has had a significant influence on her development. She is incredible in those bh-to-bh rallies, and the footwork & speed is amazing to watch when you're playing at the next table. Incredible composure for someone so young.

Significant backward tosses, even when they are above the old 45 degree rule, will always cause trouble.

Omnipong was easy to use once one got used to the PDFs. Hopefully, it can get some funding to have a more dynamic webpage output, but it got the job done.

I've been a Sally Moyland fan for years and completely agree. Here's my post from 5 years ago. 2017 Nationals |

In the case of Sally, she (or her mom) found a high quality training school in Taiwan as we all saw in Adam Bobrow's video challenge against her. Sally has experience playing in regional and National events in Taiwan. I believe she's eligible to play for either country but according to my sources, Sally wants to play for the USA team. |

Wow, impressive (though not surprising). Now could you also predict when stocks will hit bottom?
