Let me expand, Dick Miles is a 10 time National champion, also won a gold in mixed doubles at the Worlds.

Derek May's official hardbat rating is 2285, which would make him 18th among current active hardbat players.

I said in their prime. Derek May is way past it. Yes Dick Miles may win but an interesting comparison

a guy 18th among current hard at players vs a world top 10 player from 1950s hardbat era?   IHe was a semifinalist in WTTC. I'll pick Dick Miles every time.

Dick Miles was a monster of a player.  He was also one of the very best in the world in his prime.  I think it is fair to say Dick would be the heavy favorite.

Yup, I played against that windmill forehand and stiff chop. And he had a great hand press!

The game has changed so much though for hard bat players because of the changes in ball size and the change to plastic. The percentage game favours the hitter with a 40mm plastic ball.
How close it would be would depend on what ball they used, if the 40mm plastic probably closer.
