I am doing exactly that - Fairchack with Bestine rubber cement thinner (Heptane).  It thins the glue very well and greatly reduces glue build up.

I can't compare the results against other speedglues though.  Its just that I had some Fairchack and thinner on hand.   What I want to compare against is some Tibar Rapid Clean  (not the deluxe).

I prefer it this way so that I can put thin coats instead of one thicker one.  Much easier to control the amount of Speed glue effect for me.  Like previously stated by JRSDallas, there is less buildup.
