Well, a lot of people have been saying bad things about Yasaka New Era. But let me get down into this rubber and try to give you my best first review. :)

Spin: Alright. Looping is a bit hard with this rubber because it has a little bit of a spring sponge thing, so after 3 or 4 hits the sponge sort of pops and can send the ball flying of the table. But topspin and drives are very easy with this rubber.

Speed: It's pretty slow. The rubber itself is VERY heavy, and the rubber makes it hard to get back into your ready position. Especially with my old Yasaka Blade, my current combo is like 375 grams! It's SUPER heavy.
The rubber is actually pretty fast though when looping and can generate a fair amount of spin.

Control: Average. It will go where you want it but sometimes it's control is horrible with it's 'pop sponge' effect.

Sound: *glass breaks* The sound is AWESOME! It always makes a loud sound as if you are using speed glue. 10/10 sound rating.

OVERALL RATING: 7.8/10
SPIN: 8.1/10
SPEED:6.4/10
CONTROL: 6.1/10
SOUND: 10/10

Please comment about my first rating! ^.^ Thanks!

That can not be the correct weight in grams.   average setup is between say 160-190 grams.

You must be using lead edge tape or using 2 rackets at the same time for that weight my friend.  Are you sure its not 175grams...which is medium in weight?

HEHE Rich.... I was just exaggerating.... but maybe I went a little bit to far...
New Era ways like 70 grams and my blade is 107 grams. It's my grandpas old blade from the 80's and he was a defensive player... and for Christmas my dad didn't want me to get a new blade so he made me use an 80's old yasaka defensive blade.... :( But this Christmas I am asking for the Holy Crown by Butterfly!
Thanks Rich. :)

The best thing about new era is that there is no spring sponge.

it is slower than bw but faster than h3.

it can seem spring sponge as you said if one put new era in a non very solid blade because the rubber is very solid so it needs a solid blade.

new era can feel awful if the set up blade+rubber is not compensate.

but if it is, new era is an awsome rubber.

Excellent point, ejmaster. That's very true- New Era is only good with some bats. And also, read above, the blade was my Grandpas old one. ^.^

well it is made by yasaka, but when i tried it, it felt sorta chinese. dead, hard, and slow, but good spin potential. then again, i tried a long time ago and only for a few hits, so don't take my word for it.

Hi :)
According to this tabletennis blog I saw, those versions are all fakes. The real one has a cartoon-like cover. Thanks!

I have a New Era in my Penhold Setup(Juic Light Carbo - Reversible penhold)

FH - New Era
RPB - Mendo

My Impressions:
1. Good for Close-to-the-table play
2. Slow at mid-distance, and worse at far-from-the-table. HIgh Throw angle
3. Good in service, can be bad in service return (but once you returned the serve, big problem to the opponent.)
4. reacts strongly to spin.

All in all, when I used this for 30 rounds, I won 90% and lost 10%(only to 1 guy, our No. 1 in the Club).
