Fukuhara is so damn consistent. All she does is block and counter...its actually dreadful to watch.
Funny how most of the Japanese players have a much more counter oriented game compared to most players. Look at Mizuntani's fh |

Oh yeah, that shot at 0:09 is a sure short pip shot. And WOW, that was one of the most illegal serves I have EVER seen by Wang Yue Gu, 0:17 geez...shot toss, totally sideways, totally hidden, gosh, how in the world do they let her get away with serving like that? I mean, at 0:59 you see it from the front and that's totally hidden for the majority of the toss... |

Fukuhara did have a few more than the normal amount of edges and nets, but man Wang Yue Gu had a bad attitude.

Does anyone know the blade and bh rubber she is using, looks like she is using Nikkatu blade? And, is she really using lp? The ball does float a bit when she blocks but can you really generate that kind of speed w/ lp?
thanks. |

She is using Medium pimple! She cannot possible chop and punch like that with LP or SP.
Many people will disagree but this is what I believe.

I tend to agree. It doesn't seem like LP rallies. Does anyone know for sure her equipment? I bet lixiao would know.

at one time i heard a commentor say that she was using medium pimples which would make it possible to hit like that. i believe you cannot hit a ball with lp with bat angle that she has at contact

Here is a screen shot I captured, this is the clearest I can get from my computer. Does it look like an acoustic? This is captured from Liu shiwen vs. Ai, game 2 and score is 9 - 8.

Her BH looks like med pips because her returns are too fast for LP and too slow for SP.

She's been using Acoustic for a long time. Her BH rubber was said to be Armstrong Attack 8M.

i hope this helps with the backhand rubber that ai fukuhara is playing
However, it was the backhand of Ai Fukuhara that did the damage. Short pimples, she attacked quickly and forced Guo Yue into the negative. this was an excerpt from the ittf website "kuwait updates" |

I asked Iruiru about Attack8,
and they volunteered that Fukuhara is using "Attack8 I41" a new rubber. I have ordered some and also Attack8 L & M as well to compare them |

Great match especially at the end. Each of these players must have felt at some point that "it's like playing myself", their styles are so similar.

I just played a girl in a competition that plays exactly like Ai Fukuhara...It was actually scary seeing the similarities. She used 563 medium pimples and does the whole body jump for the backhand hit and she blocks short on loops with her forehand and then counters...
