I'm looking to upgrade my current setup:

Donic Appelgren Allplay Senso V2_Shadow 2.0_Wraith 2.0

I'm trying to loop more, but I'm more of a defensive player that uses my quickness to my advantage.

I'm also looking to add more spin to my serves.  Any suggestions?

If you want to add more spins to your serve, I don't  think stickier rubber is the answer.  Your rubbers are sticky enough.  Rubbers like barracuda will probably make it harder to serve as spinny.

Please let me know if I can be of assistance.

Did you also miss the part about snapa being a defensive player? Could you share with all of us your experience using Barracuda in a defensive set-up?

Work on racket acceleration.  Lighter rackets will help.  Getting your wrist involved probably helps.  Ideally, your entire body is involved. Lots of practice will help also.  Aside from those general observations, there's also the question of which particular serves and spin you are working on.  Watch pros and see if perhaps they are using techniques that you are not.

And finally, keep in mind that disguising spin is probably as important or even more important than high levels of spin.  Though Ideally you want both.

I know the Waldi Senso Carbon is a slower version of a typical carbon blade, but is it good for defensive players? It is quite a step up in speed over the Appelgren Allplay Senso V2.

For serves -
1) get a bucket of balls
2) pick 2 serves to work on
3) and do 60  reps of each serve
    a) 20 reps to each (mid, left, right corners)
    b) focus on generating and controlling spin
4) profit

What level are you playing at and what is wrong with your gear? That's a great blade that you have!

Club level is 1150-1250.  I'd probably be a 1000USATT player.

I just feel like my strokes aren't as spinny as they once were.

Age could be a factor.Shocked

If you play a defensive game, perhaps short pips on the BH would help.

I don't think age is a factor, although I think I'm rather old at 24 :)

It looks like you either need a coach or practice with higher rated/more skilled players.Smile

Perhaps simply step up to 2.2 rubbers?

Also, another option, Gambler A/C is a nice and inexpensive ALL+/OFF- blade which would be just a tad faster than your current one, but with a very nice looping capability.

You can even get the whole setup from Zeropong as a custom-built racket for  $55 - or better yet, buy them all at RITTA.

Hmm, that's the thing.  I want to stick with the control that the 2.0 affords yet I'm not happy with the lack of spin in my strokes.

As compared to what? another player? rubber? last week?

at a rating of around 1000 and being 24 (as you stated), you have much room and time to grow/hone your skills.Wink

Are you saying that you have already tried 2.2 and saw that you had to sacrifice some control in order to handle the extra speed/spin?

If that is so, then it is unfortunate ... but forgive me for saying that but it means you need to spend more time training and honing your technique. So upgrade yourself first, then rubbers... Wink
