I checked at RatingsCentral and it seems that Vladi never ever lost to Joo - in 8 or 9 matches he won all of them. Makes me sad a little bit... if only he didn't lose that super close match to Kreanga in QF WTTC 2003 (14-5 record against him, by the way), he (very likely) would have played Schlager in the final... and who knows... but the world champion would still have been European.

The hitting point of Joo's racket seems to be around upper left area (In the Joo Vs Boll game @ 23:24) It seems strange that the ball mark is very heavy toward top left only. Or is it a preferred area for Joo to hit?

Wait, does anyone know the name of the American pop song they play during the warm up in the final match Joo vs Samsonov ? It's really familiar but I can't remember the name XD Really annoying!

Goujon, it seems you have access to some really high-def videos from Korea Open. Could you post them somewhere like MegaUpload or some other good file server?

Thank you!!

By the way, did you notice there were no score announcements by referees? Like aloud, something like "Ten- Eight, Samsonov to serve"... this kind of thing... isn't that a requirement. But I didn't hear anything like that on these videos.

No score was announced. There were three different scoreboards on the court. The crane with th ecamera was blocking my view of the ref's scoreboard, so I looked at one of the corner scoreboards.

I thought this was always done on major tournaments - isn't there a requirement that the ref announces the score aloud after every ball?

if you think like that way then if chen weixing didnt move to austria, joo se hyuk would have beaten schlager in the finals.

His (Jung, Young Sik) father showed up at a local touney again yesterday. (Glad he didn't get his son on any of the teams. That would have been murder - for us)
Korea looks like it has a lot of young players ready to move up big time.
