The hard ESN sponge and soft top sheet make Thor's less forgiving in passive blocking or counter looping. It is as if the rubber and sponge are not in synch, which creates the ball-inset effect twice. I second the red better than black observation and I haven't tried any tuning yet, but worth trying.

Any news on the tweaked Thor version being out? I'm aching to get a new pair of Thors but want to wait for the new version.

Any updates on the new versions of Thors?  I broke down and bought a sheet which I will try shortly but I am interested about what will change.

I haven't heard anything about the revised Thors but I'm pretty happy with mine for now. Been using them for about 6 months now and still love them.
Ended up putting Thor on my BH but I honestly don't like it as much on the BH. Just can't seem to get enough pace with my BH shot and will probably have to go back to PME or Blitz on my backhand.

if you are going to get into the world of tuning, why not just use h3?
the whole point of thor's was to produce a chinese style rubber that doesn't need tuning.

Thor's just gets way too fast from the experience of others.

indeed.
just like every rubber performed better with speed glue in the past LOL
but if you are gonna boost your rubbers then why not use h3, sriver, etc?
the last rubber I would think of is thor's if I was gonna boost....

Is there any chinese-style rubber which doesn`t require boosting and is good on softer blades like Viscaria, Viscaria light etc.?

try haifu ones (the ones with red sponge) and galaxy moon.
I find that Moon needs a blade with sufficient stiffness. A carbon blade should do the trick provided that it doesn't have balsa as I heard Moon doesn't pair well with Balsa.

yep, first go with haifu bwII rs, if you want another option, 2nd choice could be moon.
thor's could be too, 3rd option maybe.

Both are not classic chinese tacky rubbers. BW2RS requires more european stroke movement, otherwise it starts spraying balls long and flat. It doesn`t withstand the power and acceleration of a chinese-style powerloop, even in 40d hardness.
Moon is not tacky, it`s a step towards Tenergy. A good one, but not what is needed for my FH.

An old BW2 solves the problem, but needs heavy boosting.

According to my "Palio Thor's & Blades" thread, nobody's used the T-4, but it worked on the T-2 so if they're similar enough, it should be fine.

the newer thor's have been out i think.

I compared my first thor's from 4 months ago versus the one i have now. And the newer sheet from ttarmory have a thicker & harder topsheet.

I honestly do not like it as much as the original one

mon22... when did you get this rubber?

and how many times you tried playing with it? ...normally thors takes some time to break in...which could be even prolonged with thicker topsheet.

what do you not like about it?

Is MEBD cured?

I played with it for 2 weeks now. So i'm pretty sure its broken in. I examined the old cut sheets and the new ones side by side which made me come to the conclusion that the topsheet has definitely gone thicker and harder.

I haven't really paid any attention to the MEBD, but i think it has been less. Not sure about QC of the thor's but the newer sheets are less tacky and definitely a harder feel overall. I honestly don't like it

Now I don't have any old sheets to compare to in terms of hardness of the topsheet but I can definitely say that my topsheet of my new Thor's is tacky. Even slightly tackier than my h3 provincial. My h3 provincial can lift the ball for about 2 seconds and my thor's can lift it about 3 seconds. I know there's definitely tackier rubber available but it still has a significant tack.

On a different note. I've tried thor's for 2 sessions and it feels much much softer than I was expecting which is a good thing for me. The H3 provincial I was using was purchased at 39 degrees using the DHS scale and I used baby oil to make it permanently a little softer to where it feels on the lower end of 38 degrees.

If my H3 provincial is 38 degrees than my thor's is about 32 in terms of feel while playing. So if Mon22 says the topsheet is now harder I'd imagine the sponge is now softer.

Again, I have no experience with old Thor's so keep that in mind.

Hello, everybody Big smile
I was wondering if Thor goes on back hand too? I was thinking to have thor on both sides.
Will it be hard for me to adjust? Knowing that I have an aggressive attacking style close- mid distance, with both sided looping.
I red some reviews that Thor goes with Blitz as its BH, but why... I dont know.
So should I get; Thor on both sides? Or Thor FH, and Blitz on BH?

Aaaand also, I was also thinking to buy one Andro Temper Tech OFF + blade, it has a medium hard feeling. So will it be enough to squirt the sponge power and unleash Thor's wrath on the apponent?
Or Butterfly Maze Passion (Made of Glass Fiber, Hard feeling, all-round offensive).
Which one is better with Thor (and/or with Blitz)?

One last question, I want to buy the rubbers and the blade from ttnpp.com is it a trustable site to buy from? I really dont want to spend the little money I have on fake stuff.

And the end I Sorry for making this disccusion even longer. But I was really looking for some professional opinion.
(This is the 2nd post).

thank you. just to be sure, you mean that thor's sponge is harder than vega pro's, topsheet grip lasts longer in Thor's than in vega pro, and so on?

Yes that's right, it's a hard sponge. Keep it covered and Thors lasts a very very long time

Why don't you like it as much as the original?  Does it still have the same spin and speed as before?  I'd imagine the short game is better due to a harder topsheet unless I'm wrong.

I've been playing with Globe 999 for a while now and it's said to have a fairly elastic topsheet (I guess for a Chinese rubber) and after going back to Thor's for a few games, I do like the idea of a slightly harder topsheet while still being as tacky and grippy as the original.
