First impressions are not great.
I put it onto Galaxy T-8 as I suspected that the rubber would be sluggish at first. And I was right. While it was really great in blocking - especially in slow blocks, when you need to slow down the ball for a kind of block slash dropshot - it was not at all serviceable in driving or any kind of flat game. Looping is spinny but needs readjustment to use Chinese loop technique, because the rubber is still quite tacky. I wonder if this tackiness goes away? Very noticeable click and good speed on strong attacks, but rather middling performance speed-wise on medium-strength shots. Spin is very good when you engage the relatively hard sponge. Perhaps I should have gone with 37... but no matter. I was kinda hoping for a rubber which was better than Thors and less choosy. So far, it's not it. But I will give another chance shortly. |

Yeah it is probably slower than the regular Moon since the Pro's topsheet is made of natural rubber, which is less elastic (slower) but more spinny. It is still definitely plays like a Euro/Jap rubber, not like Hurricane.
If you like the Moon Pro but want something faster, try the Razka7 as that has a Tensor sponge, and is similar in many ways but faster than Moon Pro. Edited by cotdt - 11/06/2011 at 3:54pm |

Pictures are fine, just wait till you are connected..
As for Rakza7 , I am not really interested to try it since that rubber is extremely close to Palio Blitz which I am using already. I just wanted to try GMP and see if it could be a replacement for Palio Macro Era 47.5 on my FH. So far - the answer is rather emphatic "no" |

That's a nice looking rubber, first time I'd seen how the pimples look on it, very different to how DHS or Globe or even Thors do things. That looks very similar to the Hexer/Rakza/Tenergy theme. I'd expect you could play that much like you would those rubbers once the tack wears off

it seems that it does not come with the turner layer (like DHS Neo), why it needs the vacuum package
BTW, did u left the rubber overnight after u open the package? haha, I am eager to try it, after I run out all my mp rubber stocks Edited by Egghead - 11/07/2011 at 1:01am |

vacuum package is pointless. this rubber doesn't seem pretuned. it plays very nice when tuned, however.

This is not how my Moon Pro looks. It is very glossy and no trace of pimples protruding. Also it is faster than regular Moon. |

I hadn't seen moon pro Imago but that sheet looks just like the Mercury II I have, something weird going on?. It could be just the lighting in the photo making it look shiny

This rubber is not very shiny. It is quite smooth and has some sheen and it is certainly is not matte like some rubbers are, but I wouldn't call it very glossy.
It doesn't seem to be tuned as right out of the package it laid relatively flat, without much doming in either direction. And as I said, it is medium tacky so far, and if you bounce a ball on it (glued to the blade) the ball stops right after the second bounce - so it feels rather dead in soft, light strokes. I will let it breathe for a while and then I will try it again. I am not sure if I should take it off the blade as it doesn't seem to be tuned much. |

I just got the Moon Pro 39 and wow the sponge is hard! It's as hard as my H3 sponge. Not sure if it's playable as either Euro style forehand (too hard) or Chinese style forehand (not tacky enough). I will stick with my Moon Pro 37 for now, as that one is a standard rubber design that is simply well made.

Shark is really grippy, Imago didn't show you is the side on view, then you will see why the pimples hang out. Take another picture Imago, it's the highest performance Chinese rubber imho

I intend to play some more today against my regular sparring partner (~2100) and will post second impressions shortly.
As for it getting softer - I hope it won't. I would like for it to lose almost all of its tackiness and start producing some of that promised catapult as it was touted in some places as a Tenergy 05 replacement with better (less, that is) sensitivity. |

No, that stuff is too tacky/sticky for me, I was hoping for something that is as fast as PME but has a little bit of stickiness to add spin and short game control. |

Played some more with Moon Pro today - about 15 minutes then I stopped.
It is still rather tacky and dead-ish, but becoming a little bit livelier... just a little bit. I would say that so far this is still a Chinese-style rubber. In order to do a proper loop, you absolutely have to play more into the ball rather than brush-loop. Not as bad as heavily tacky like old H3 but somewhere in the middle. Certainly does not play like European non-tacky offensive rubbers. It does a very nice drive now if you hit it good. Loop is also quite fast, as fast as my PME I would say. However in medium shots and in gentle touches it plays much more like a Chinese rubber than Euro-Jap one, that's for sure. It plays better in my opinion (for me) than H3 Neo, although it is probably not as tacky, so that's one of the reasons I guess. Again I want to confirm that this rubber is definitely more consistent than Palio Thors and not as capriciously choosy in terms of blade selection. I tried it already on T-8 and on 729 V-6 and although it plays rather differently (to be expected) but without any strange drops and jerky throws. Still, once I switched back to my BBC Ultima with Palios I felt so much better ... but that is of course a matter of practice. After all, I used to play with tacky rubbers and felt quite OK as well. I will put it next on Nexy Sahara. Let's see if it shifts my opinion for the better... |

The black sheet I got is significantly tackier than the red one, which was almost nontacky. Maybe you need to try the red sheet Jim.

Pro is linear like any other chinese FH rubbers, counter looping is soooo much fun=). After about more than 6 weeks, rubber is still slightly tacky. Even though the sponge is hard, it plays softer like BW II black sponge tuned. |

JimT, if you look for the promiscuity embodied, look no further - Mercury 2 is the embodiment of your dreams. This rubber can virtually be consort of any and every blade. It can give a touch of nobility even to this $4 paddle: Edited by Imago - 11/10/2011 at 1:19am |

Imago, Mercury II feels a LOT like most tensors to me. It's more related to a tensor than any other Chinese rubber I've used anyway. Anyone can make up their own mind if that's a good thing or not
