    Posted: 07/24/2012 at 1:54pm
Cornilleau is going to release a new blade series called "Gatien".
Some have exotic wood as rosewood or ebenholz, another is a 15-ply! carbon blade.

Cornilleau Gatien Absolum OFF+

Power in the pure state

Devastating power obtained through the use of surface ebony.
The central plies are of uniform thickness, heightening the sense of control necessary in blade of this quality!

Structure : 7-Plywood
External layers : Ebony
Weight : 95g

Cornilleau Gatien Pure OFF+

A revolutionary 15-ply structure

15-ply for a unique topspin sensation! This «elastic» power is also harnessed on the strike, whilst the counter-initiative of comfort and safety are never overlooked.

Structure : 15-Plywood ( 13+2 Carbon )
External layers : Limba
Weight : 85g

Cornilleau Gatien Glory OFF

An impressive output

A slender blade structure, yet extremely dynamic on impact.
The outer Rosewood plies provide precision and vibro-acoustic comfort.

Structure : 5-Plywood
External layers : Rosewood
Weight : 85g

Cornilleau Gatien Vision OFF+

A "soft carbon" blade which really packs a punch

A "carbon" sensation which keeps a low profile at low speed,
but is capable of releasing a huge burst of power when necessary.
Formidably efficient.

Structure : 7-Plywood (5 + 2 Carbon)
External layers : Tiba Mahogany
Weight :85g

Cornilleau Gatien Conquest OFF

A sturdy character

The hard outer Wenge plies make the blade extremely responsive.
This incisiveness is perfectly counterbalanced by the clever use of balsa on either side of the triple central birch ply.

Structure : 9-Plywood
External layers : Wenge
Weight : 85g

Cornilleau Gatien Origin OFF-

To be consumed without moderation

The central structure, made up of three uniform Abachi plies gives this blade impressive stability. This translates as impeccable control in every phase of play.

Structure : 7-Plywood
External layers : Walnut
Weight : 90g

oops... wrong again. forgot about one.

so the count is 24 5plys, 3 7plys, and 1 3ply

7 ply:
Donic Ovtcharov Senso V1 (still en route, that's why I forgot about it)
DHS PG7
HRT Clipper

3ply:
Peter Freundlieb custom (for hardbat)

I'll probably sell the 7 ply blades locally after I have some more fun with them. I'm hoping the 3 ply serves me well for hardbat (it's also en route).

Eventually I'll whittle the collection down to a dozen 5 plys or so

I wonder how much that 15 ply will sell for? My taste in cars and blades has always been unusual.

3x Ah WRC
1x Ah Spruce
1x Ah Bamboo
1x BBC 9-10-9
3x YLT cameo
1x YLT Kameo
2x YLT Kombination
1x YLT Mastercraftsman
2x Dunlop Barna
2x Aubrey Simons (hardbat)

Plus numerous others that I can't think of at the moment including sandpaper cork etc. I play with all of them. No wonder my game is so undefined.
Just in case that you are interested, the YLT range is much reduced now but I notice that the website is back. Mark Bellamy the owner, is an excellent blademaker and has been at it for many years.

Palio's website is the only one that lists the blades as available in ST and AN handles - but am I being a moron or is there not a "store" where you can buy things on the Palio site?

that's a great question. with the xiom hayabusa lineup it's obvious... maybe this is Cornilleau's attempt at the same

I wonder why they've used Gatien, who 1) hasn't played for quite some time, and many players new to the sport won't know him (he's not JoW), 2) never used a Cornilleau blade throughout his professional career. It just seems a bit pointless.

All that said, he's still my favourite player of all time, so have at it!

It depends, in fact. During his peak, in 1993, he was using the Stiga Allround Evolution, Mark V both sides, and enough speedglue to make young children faint from the fumes. After he won the 1993 WTTC, he signed with Yasaka, and switched to the Extra (there are theories that it was still a Stiga AE with Extra handles, but that isn't true. It really was an Extra.)
