Anyone played with this rubber?
Is it not as heavy as the non-Target sponge version? Is it faster than H3 NEO & slower than T05? How is its speed relative to Baracuda? How are its spin & throw as compared to Baracuda or T05? Thanks. This is for the FH of a two-winged looper at around 1850 level who shall pair this with a stiff OFF blade.

I have played both with Target sponge or WITHOUT target sponge. You got it reversed.
Without is lighter by at least 8 grams cut. I have used the one with target sponge with great result, but it's too heavy, way heavier than T05/H3. Now I am back with the one without target stamp. Plays the same, lack some power due to weight obviously. Spin is second to none, way spinnier than H2, H3, T05, M1, M2, Evo series. Spin wise, I put it equal to Venus 2. Massive spin. Faster than H3 Neo, slower than T05 due to rather tacky topsheet. No idea about barracuda. Throw is medium high. I am using Xiom Zetro Quad and Kokutaku Laser Carbon Power, great combo. One thing I noticed is that the red one is harder and perhaps 5% more spin than the black one..(both 39 degrees) Hope this helps. Edited by dual700 - 04/16/2013 at 2:28pm |

Thanks Very clear review!
Are both version's topsheets the same? I think this reviewer was implying that the Target spone version is lighter (but I might be mistaken): However, I believe you since you tried both versions.

Seguso here implies that the non-Target is heavy (60g cut). Is the lighter version of the two?

Yep, I was worried if they changed topsheet, so I tried 2 to begin with.
But now, I have 5 spares The reviewer got the one without Target stamp. Average weight. The one with, is a brick. IIRC, I weight all of the rubbers I had in the past and T88 was at least 8 - 10 grams heavier than the heaviest rubbers in my stash.. There are some reviews on OOAK and ttdb about this rubber, but all with Target stamp sponge. |

That's not right. Seguso did his review back in April last year. Eacheng only had the one with Target stamp (I also happened to buy one from eacheng around that time) Eacheng started selling the one WITHOUT Target stamp approximately 3 months ago. I spoke/emailed back and forth to them prior my purchase to make sure that this one is lighter and they confirmed it.... Ooops, more like 6 months ago, time flies, lol Sent Date: Nov-13-12 21:32:08 PST Dear dual700, Sanwei T88-I (without TARGET stamp on the sponge) Pips-in Table Tennis Rubber Item number:251181883112 of course , it is lighter !! - china-friend Edited by dual700 - 04/16/2013 at 2:53pm |
