It is time to compile a list of the PA State champions. Closed events only.
All you historians out there, lend me a hand!

Sophia won the open over Calvin last year. You can use the Usatt website for an idea of historical results.

In the older newspaper articles, they say men's open.  I'll review all the article I found.

Okay, I've got as much as I can off of USATT ratings and Tim Boggan's history that he has posted online.

Fill in the gaps!
Oh, and fix the mistakes!

All this info from History of U.S. Table Tennis:

Dec. 9, 1939 Lancaster Pennsylvania Open

Men's Open Ed Pinnner def Tibor Hazi

Women's Magda Hazi def Brewer

1940 Pennsylvania Closed—won by Mike Lieberman and Henrietta Wright (held the same weekend as the US Open) No other info.

1941 Pennsylvania State Open

Men's Bellak def Schmidt

Women's Mrs. Henrietta Wright def Charlotte Ordway

Pretty sure the period 1942-1945 there were no big Pennsylvania tournaments due to the war.

The first one is an Open, so I'm not sure that works for a state championship.

The 1940's is kind of confusing, if you read that section again, it mentions 2 sets of winners, but doesn't say which were the doubles, and which were the singles.

Many of those events are open's as well.  I'm going for Closed events.  Sorry I didn't mention that!

Ok, these are Closed only:

1946
Paul Capelle def Al Butowsky
Henrietta Wright def Ruth Wilson Millington

1962  Gerald Grike def Mike Lieberman

1975 correction for 2nd place:
"In the Open (under bad campus-venue lighting), Ricky Seemiller, sporting a new 2235 rating, successfully defended his State Closed title—blanking real life chemical engineer and real life chopper/backhand pick-hitter Sam Balamoun who’d ousted Joe Rokop in 4."

1976
Ricky Seemiller def Bruce Plotnick
Ione Wenrich def Carol Montuoro

That about exhausts what is published in History of U.S. Table Tennis.
