Has anyone played with custom-made DHS blades for provincial or national team players?
Is the difference substantial compared to market versions? and anyone knows what different materials and production processes are used? And how do they compare to high-end butterfly blades in terms of performance? thanks in advance. |

yes is different especially on 'power' loop etc. I feel most of the time we won't be feeling it much different. Maybe 20% of the time .

usually they are made for pro so the weight is within a range for the needs of theirs. Very small range like 2-4 gm diff.

Are we talking about likes of 506 with PG3 handle or W968?
Take the special 506 for example, I heard Hurricane Long II is basically the same blade.

I am interested more in N655/656. Also noticed that the handle is 1 mm higher into the head than the regular HK655 and HH 656.

thanks, Zheyi, so probably amateur players aren't going to feel that much of a difference anyway...

If 968 is #1 selling/most popular high end SH blade, what is CPEN?
Are any of the top blades sold on Eacheng? http://eacheng.net/index.php?act=product&CategoryID=321 Edited by tommyzai - 04/18/2014 at 12:42am |

Are these blades also called by other names? I see many DHS blades that have names with letters, but not numbers.

There are 968 CPEN blades too, the N656 is most popular and readily available.

Are there a couple lines of DHS blades? Or, as the thread suggests, are blade like N656 custom only? I cannot find N656 for sale on Eacheng or other sites. I know a lot about other blades, but not DHS. Forgive my ignorance.

hh656 has more vibration especially on heavy swing/hit.
On light-mid weight practices, N seems to rely more on the rubber's strength and therefore
seems weaker.
On heavy/hard hit/swing, N starts to show its feel and slight vibrate on blade, while on hh, the vibration is rather disturbing. Therefore a loss in power.
N needs a harder swing/hit to execute while hh has better light-mid controls.
Its only my 2nd sessions. I will update again.

82.5 is amazingly light for 656. My lightest H656 SE is 87 g. My lightest H655 SE is 85 g cpen, while the heaviest H655 is a 99 g FE. There is a sneaking suspicion that these super-priced custom N656 and N655 are just carefully selected FE Hurricanes, while the discarded overweights are thrown into the market as fails. SE = Signature Edition FE = First Edition |

Commercial and this customed version looks different too. Has a darker koto top ply and pitches when knocking on the blade is lower. I have a hh, 656 and hh2 all at 84-86gm to compare with.

Meaning it is slower or less powered. This is normal with such reduced weight. My fastest Hurricane is 99 g. Pitch is high and acoustics is like from pure hinoki.

what do you guys think of that ebay seller that sells 650 dollar custom-made hurricane king blade? He hasn't been able to sell all those blades, made me wonder if those custom blades worth all that money...

Okay I need to clear this up for everyone, the price range of these blades Are around 270 USD. They are basically the same blade to their commercial counterpart but when selecting materials they have a higher requirement.
W968 = Hurricane Long 5, we probably can't really tell the difference despite their $100 difference, the W968 handle appeals to me more though. |

Hurricane Long 2 and 3. HL5 will be more like HK3. But if you like Clipper, better use Clipper. Or something more powerful down the line, say, Dipper 11. http://www.dhs-tt.com/en/tt-blade-dhs-dipper-11-pen-off Unfortunately, it is difficult to find a 85 g D11. |

I think Shi Mingyu uses a viscaria. 825 is a commercial blade, hurricane ning would probably resemble ebonholz. |
