In my quest for the dream blade.
Closest to what I think is my dreamblade are: OSP Virtuoso, Nittaku Acoustic Carbon, Btf MJ ZLC, Btf MJ SZLC and the Btf Viscaria. Playwise I get the best results with the Virtuoso or Acoustic Carbon. However I like the flared handle of the MJ's and Viscaria more and they play almost just as well for me. The SZLC being maybe a bit to fast for a good short game. I thought. Lets mix things up. Blade: Nittaku Acoustic Carbon Handle: Butterfly Mizutani Jun Put together and crafted to perfection by: OSP www.ospblades.com The only option to craft such a blade was Nittaku or OSP to me, since they use the glueing technique that give most feel to their blades. I will be trying it out asap, however not this weekend. |

Hello,
The blade is good, but you must notice many things could be calculated in advance before making such a "Frankestein" blade. It is VERY important to keep the point of the balance and the weight of the original blade. Different weight = Different balance = Different skills on the table. I have made many projects in my life and I think it is always better if the blade is going little more lighter than heavier after the handle's change. Not in each blade, but mostly. Hope to have a good news after testing |

Yes I understand what you are saying. However the Acoustic Carbon was a bit head heavy. So getting a bit more weight in the handle was just what I was looking for. It would be even more like my OSP Virtuoso which has perfect balance. The changes in play will only be positive because of a more balanced feel in my hand I hope.
Since I already know how the blade itself plays, will also help to reduce the negative aspects. Thanks for your comment. |

What about this in light of the contract Butterfly has with Mizutani? I know it is not a commercial blade, but still...

Taking apart 2 expensive blades and recombining using an expensive blade-maker - looks like you spent a lot of money on this!

Actually, OSP had some spare Mizutani handles.
On first I offered my Mizutani to be used as parts which he didnt need. I dont have the spare acoustic handle now though, but thats ok. I weighed the blade and it went from 89 to 94g, feels a bit heavy now with rubbers on but will be ok I guess ;) |
