The design of this rubber is quite radical, matching the new generation's techniques and strategies, especially Chinese players and some of Asian players. Why not typical European style? Because European style players are still chasing the highest point as best timing or even later. Wink

Now that's what I call a high-tension rubber.
Viscaria FL - 91g

big dome! Can be tricky to properly glue it, as the glue runs to the center while drying :S

Nevertheless, if the topsheet isn't too hard (like P7), think I will give it a try.

Wonder the same thing, my rubbers always looked like that after a few layers of speed glue!

Don't worry. Rubber is 100% flat and has delicate surface like Sword Maze. (caution when cleaning).

Hey all!

Pimples of the rubber have larger diameter than standard Nittaku rubbers.
Comparing to Nittaku Galze, Alhelg has more power and speed glue effect.
In the game the sponge feels soft. It feels softer than Nittaku Renanos Hold.

Is this rubbers similar to the airoc from stiga, difference being with bigger/larger diameter pips and slightly different topsheet with a different die on the sponge?

tested 2 hrs today. alhelg felt like fastarc S-1 and G-1. not in between, but with the properties of both. low throw and very fast, making it best suited to fast topspin attack.

if i were to compare it directly to another rubber, it's similar to bluefire jp series and also more linear than fastarc.

it is capable of a lot of spin. however, gripping the ball was tough. you either had to brush or really accelerate into it. in that sense, it's the same as other german tensors - which i do not like.

i will try it some more because after the G-1 broke in, it played awesome. so far though, it doesn't look like it will be my next fh rubber. i think hitters may like this a lot or it fits better on the bh.

Looking at the lovely pictures (slight curl of rubber when new, fine pored sponge, shiny topsheet), kurokami's fine words ("gripping the ball was tough", "fits better on BH"), the "Made In Japan"....

This is a variation on Airoc.
This was a great signature until I realised it was overrated.

I have this rubber as RPB for a while. Strange that I found it to be hard and kind of dead in feel. No modern rubber bounce that I am expecting to see in this new 40+ design. I have several Nittaku rubbers like G1, S1, Flyatt...and all got higher bounce than Alhelg. In fact it is very much like the new MX-S in every aspect. Lots of gear and hard which needs your own power to unleash the magic. It is very high in grip and control so it suits the new ball perfectly.

I have TG360 for FH on the same blade and I found the softer TG360 seems to do better as RPB and the harder Alhelg fits both end equally well.

alhelg is slightly more linear. low gear it's easy to control on serve. yea it might fit plastic ball better. i'll try it out later.

update: it has many gears like hurricane and except when you contact it head on, it's easy to vary your spin. it also has a lot of spin for the amt of effort you put in. its spin is >= T05. some opponents said it was spinnier but i think that was more bc it has a higher ratio of spin: speed rather than actually being that much spinnier than T05.

control is good bc it's somewhat linear and doesn't engage high gear until you penetrate to the sponge.

once you do though like when hit directly, it has that tensor kick and is quite fast with a low throw (but then when you hit on, it's usually vs topspin).

i think alhelg is still too fast but maybe it'll be just right for plastic.

update: 3rd session with alhelg it has softened a bit without that tuned cannon effect right out of the pkg.

now that it has some more dwell, the control is very good. its balance of stiffness coming from the harder sponge makes fast flips easier than with tenergy.

i haven't overshot since though it might be adjustment to the new rubber. its speed comes out with more direct contact so when you go for a loop kill, i drive closed and mostly over the top moreso than with hurricane.

the technique is more brush with a compact drive up close (like mizutani https://youtu.be/uhzC_AFU3ek?t=1m46s), but the result is faster than all my previous shots except mizutani with t64.

conclusion: when playing alhelg, low gear is slower than tenergy, top gear is >= tenergy in speed. if you treat it like T64 or heavily speed glued bryce, you should be good to go

p.s. i expect it to soften up further, allowing easier grip with the tensor topsheet, and then become even easier to play.  i may make this my primary fh

Their sponge are quite similar. Alhelg sponge has bigger pores and feels a little bit harder.
For my experience, these kinds of sponge seem vulnerable to damage. Very difficult to remove glue from it.
(I believe they are made by the same factory.)
