I hit with this blade a long time ago, in the 38mm ball era.
It had another name and a different handle back then. It was the Young Ace blade.
It was very allround, with low speed and some vibration when contacting the ball. I believe it´s inappropriate now with 40+ balls.

Thanks. Would you care to elaborate on how it will be inappropriate for that ball?

It lack speed with 38mm ball, so I don´t expect it to be any faster with bigger balls.
I tried Cypress-S (9mm) with 40mm ball and thought it was very slow. And considering the Cypress-S is much faster than the Young Ace I can predict Young Ace (now Eeru) will be almost useless with 40 or 40+ ball.
From 2000 on (40mm ball) I believe single ply hinoki jpens must be 10mm thickiness or higher for a serious offensive jpen player.

Not true. 9 mm. hinoki is fast enough. This guy here uses 9 mm. Chiang Peng Lung which is slower than Cypress S.

True. That guy however plays in our era...
9 mm. hinoki is actually too fast for most amateur players.

Thanks for the inputs! A follow-up question:

Assuming 9mm cypress can be too fast for many amateurs, then 8mm blades like this one will likely be just right or a bit slow. In any case, one can find a suitable rubber to pair with it, so that the combo has enough speed and control, right?

I'm guessing the answer is yes. After all, there's a wide range of speed and control in rubbers that can balance those of the blade.

My bad chicho read the post too fast....

I probably wouldn't focus so much on thickness but focus on the best quality hinoki you can get in your price range...
I think there is a world of difference in cheap one ply and a slightly more expensive one

Also you probably need to consider what style of jpen you will play! I fell the blade will be too slow for most style of jpen play
