Fellow TT enthusiasts -
I am looking to purchase an inexpensive table for home use (multiball practice with robot; kids play) that is sturdy, fold-able, and which has playing characteristics that aren't too different from 'real' tournament tables. I came across this one at Walmart: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Sportspower-Top-Spin-Pro-Table-Tennis-Table/40610203#about The price is right, remarkably it has a 1 inch top, and looks sturdy. My main concern is the bounce. Anybody having experience with it? Alternatives: Joola Inside looks significantly more flimsy (5/8 inch top) for twice the price of the Walmart table, or a Joola 1800 which looks better (3/4 inch top) for 2.5 times the price. Either would provide the calm of brand recognition, but both Joola tables appear inferior and I don't really want to spend > $500 on a home table. Your comments would be much appreciated. -Patrick

Wow...good find. Looks like one of the higher end models but rebranded for walmart. Walmart does squeeze the manufacturers down to the nitty gritty(you should here the sad stories i have heard about there scare tactics) and we the consumers benefit from it. Anybody can make a match of which brand this table belongs too?

if possible, go to the store and ask to look at the item, or perhaps if the manager is nice enough, he would let you take the floor model. 1 review of the item indicates (on walmart) that the last buyer(that reviewed the item) thought it would be sturdy too but due to bad packing, the top had suffered a wrinkled* (whatever that means) effect.

There is no in-store table. It's shipped directly from a central source. The one review does not concern me: if the table is damaged due to the transport, I will request a replacement, it's as simple as that...

Yeah - well. I am a stupid and honest guy...This being Walmart, and not being any special sale, I did anticipate there to be more than one table available. Well glad I could be of assistance to someone

Patrick: I think for the money, that is the best table around. A few months ago, I wanted to buy the same but they went out of stock and I ended up buying a different one.

Oh yeah , I did extensive "googling" to find alternative suppliers for this table. I was in touch with Wayfair trying to get them to price match (they don't). Sears also has an essentially identical table (different text "Prince", same table for $339 but they also didn't want to price match. The table is also available from Alibaba by the container
Thankfully, Walmart restocked it...
